    Anyone using Paraplate guns?

Been using the Paraplate for 25+ years. I find them pretty reliable. The bigger issue....why do customers lay them on the ground and drive over them???

What business structure do you use?

Sub S Corporation. Trumps tax cut now allows a 20% cut off of the top, before the income flows down to the shareholders. Huge.

    Lighting questions

There is a wide variation regarding lumens per watt. The higher ones obviously cost more....but are more efficient. My utility required them to be DLC certified in order to get a rebate.

    Lighting questions

I retrofitted my car wash bays with Hyperikon 60W LED's. Couldn't be happier. 2 per bay. Here's the unit from their website: https://www.hyperikon.com/led/exterior-home/led-wall-pack-fixture-half-cut-off-hps-hid-replacement-waterproof-60w-150w/ I bought them on Amazon over a year ago for...

    Any thoughts on "Corn" bulbs?

Replace the fixture with a LED with high lumens/watt rating. I did my entire car wash about a year ago. You don't want to know how many times I've checked my video at night and said, "Man, I love the way those things light up the place....."? Shop around, and do it right......

    Vac Tank Decals

If you really want an easy way to remove decals.....brake parts cleaner. Nasty stuff, but it works. Makes a mess....and don't get it on your skin.

Remote control device of some sort

Here's the software I used: http://denkovi.com/drm-software I have a Windows 7 computer on 24/7 that runs my Credit Card system. The relay software is installed on this computer and connected via USB. I have a VPN network, and access the computer securely using Remote Desktop.

Remote control device of some sort

If you have a computer at your car wash....this device makes "remote" relay management easy. http://denkovi.com/usb-relay-board-four-channels-for-home-automation-v I installed mine last fall, and it allows me to reset my automatic bay....and well as activate a "free" wash. When a customer...

    Trench Drain Recommendation?

I have a trench drain along the exit of my (2) Touchless automatics. After 20+ years, the drains are rotting....and need to be replaced. There's a LOT of salt that ends up in the drain due to deicing. Does anybody have a product that could be recommended?

    Where to buy Led Lighting

I bought these on Amazon about a year ago. Couldn't be happier. 2 per self serve bay. Hyperikon LED Wall Pack 60W: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01MT8NNDI/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Local utility paid for over half.

    High Pressure Check Valves

After 2 decades of running the gamut.....we've found that the Fluid Control check valves work the best. There's ONE exception. We run a dual presoak system in our touchless automatic. Step 1 is moderately aggressive and has some HF in it. The ONLY setup that worked (on the Step 1 presoak...

    Outdoor lighting controls

Local utility had a $150 rebate for the $200 astronomic timer...so I got one. I love it. Wired it to a huge contactor and it's been trouble free. No more changing mechanical timers. All my lights are LED now...and they are set to come on 20 minutes before sunset. BTW....The utility later...

    Tax deductions

Yup.....and that's why I started doing my own taxes. When I first built my wash, a CPA depreciated my building over 31.5 years. "Uh, gee I thought that it was 15 years for a car wash building..." "I'll have to check on that".....to which he later said, "Gee, I guess your right". And....why...

    Tax deductions

Be sure your business is correctly structured (Subchapter S corporation or similar). I forget the particular's, but Trumps new tax law allows my Sub S to deduct 20% right off of the TOP of my corporate income. 20%. That's huge. That little jewel will make deducting your cell phone bill seem...

    Boiler high limit tripping

You don't need a Taco motor. Look at the specs on it. If memory serves me correctly, my similar setup used a 1/4HP Emerson motor. I picked up a New (old stock) one on eBay for less than $100. It's been on the shelf as a spare for 5 years. Some timely shopping...and you'll be able to pick...

    ACW4 Mars conversion

FWIW....I use the Hamilton Tokenotes, and have a huge amount in circulation. I've successfully used the IOWA validator for years. The ones in my ACW IV's haven't been serviced in years. I give them a good cleaning occasionally, and replace the belts myself. They accept the Tokenotes....so...

    Thermal Imaging Devices

This is the first trial run with the FLIR one Pro. It's above freezing here, so I had to turn the floor heat stat up. It let it run for about 10 minutes....and this is a picture of the bay adjacent to the equipment room:

    Pit Cleaning??

    I have to pay between $1500 and $2000 to have a 3/2 pumped in a major metropolitan city. $600? That's a dream.

    RNS coins jamming

This has happened 3 times in two weeks. I drilled and installed a #8 screw as shown in the picture. The gap is closed up...and things should be fixed. Hamilton tells me that they have not heard of any manufacturing discrepancies. I still wonder though.....
