    Carwash Closings

Dallas Mayor just extended their “stay at home” until May 20. I suspect others in Texas will follow. Glad I’m not a restaurant owner...

Post pics of thives, or not?

I used Facebook last fall to catch a paint dumper at my wash, but when I handed his info over to the cops they completely blew it off. My manager suggested we put up a sign board next to the bill changers and start posting "asshole of the month" photos, but I'm afraid that'll just motivate kids...

    Pit cleaning..

Yep, a waste pumping service takes care of mine at $1200 for 7 bays. Seems like a no-brainer versus the expense buying equipment, trailers, hiring a crew, and/or getting in trouble for illegal dumping. They typically start at 6am and are finished in two hours.

    Carwash Closings

Careful, you'll be running a homeless bath house and laundromat within about 2 days. And the bucket washers LOVE them some free water. I took my wringer sinks out last month; best decision I've made.

    Hand sanitizing stations

Are they selling? Might try that.

    Hand sanitizing stations

Good idea, but they wouldn't last 5 minutes at my wash

    Carwash Closings

Finally got written confirmation from the city. Traffic has been good after rain every day last week. Hello, Thank you for your email. Yes, you are correct Car Washes (if it's maintenance of the vehicle) are still able to operate and can choose to remain open. For additional information...

    Carwash Closings

San Antonio has a similar article today. They didn't make distinction between full and self serve, but specifically listed "car washes" as allowed to stay open...

    Carwash Closings

I watched a kid in the grocery store yesterday that was walking down the produce aisle and bare-handing everything he could reach. His mom, of course, was totally oblivious. Short of chaining people to their bed frames, I don't see how any of this will do much good.

    Carwash Closings

David, were those conditions specified in the order? Our mandate is much more vague; basically non-essential business must close.

    Carwash Closings

Agreed, it's a stretch. Especially since Uber and Lyft are basically dead in the water right now. But at this point which is safer: washing a car at a self serve, or standing in line for dwindling grocery stocks?

    Carwash Closings

Letter from the SCWA. Nice to have an advocate. Hope it works... Good morning Dallas County has issued a “Shelter in Place” order for residents also suggesting “non essential” businesses should close. While Governor Abbott has not issued the same on the state level – we believe other local...

    Carwash Closings

Looks like our shelter in place order is being drafted. I'm seriously considering just staying open and taking a chance that the city enforcement will have bigger to fish to fry than an un-attended car wash. With all of the vagrancy that I deal with I'm not real fired up about shutting down...

    Carwash Closings

A big full service near me is closed until April 3rd but I think it was by choice. Haven’t heard of any forced closings.

    COVID 19/Coronavirus Impact

Our sales have been sky high but San Antonio just yesterday closed all restaurants and I’m guessing that will put a lot of my customers out of work.

Buying a wash that has been out of service for years

Same dance, different song. When will these "old school" owners learn that you'll never get top dollar if you can't show top dollar. Bankers, these days, have zero patience for that line, especially when they're now sitting next to an 800 pound gorilla name Corona. Just a thought: given the...

    How are you all doing?

Our wash business in San Antonio has been steady, though we're not seeing near the cases as Randy and others. Maybe folks are seeing a SS car wash was a means of getting outside and away from the TV without having to closely interact with people? But, I'm picking up cash tomorrow and I'll be...

    Trash Cans

I’m with Waxman on trash cans being a necessary part of the biz, but what irks me to no end is the trash they throw on the ground when they’re standing 5 feet from a can. I may try not picking it up for a couple of weeks. If they complain about the lot being trashy I’ll tell them it’s because...

    Pepsi/Coke Vending Machines

Yep, I'm set for a profit of .72 cents on sodas and .81 cents on bottle water. All 16.9 oz bottles. No cans to attract more trash varmints.
