Any useful comments are appreciated. I am purchasing a cryptopay reader and coin box that has yet to be installed. I contacted cryptopay to try and understand exactly what the process entailed as far as getting the customers cards to process. They informed me that they use WorldPay as their processor and that I needed to contact WP to set up the account. What I need help in understanding is this: Is WorldPay the only processor that can be used by the CryptoPay system or are there better credit card processors out there that charge less per transaction? To be fair, I have yet to hear back from WorldPay on what their fees are. Hope this question all makes sense and thanks for your time.

One day someone will break the WP/CryptoPay monopoly with a system as easy to install as CryptoPay and in one device that swipes & taps. For now we are prisoners to WP. Fees are in the 4-5% so higher than in the marketplace but not worth worrying about until there is a viable alternative. You can charge a different about than for cash customers if you do not want to absorb the extra costs.

I'll speculate that it actually costs more to accept cash than CC. How much do you spend on repairs/maintenance/replacement of changers, coin mechs, bill validators, etc.... How much time do you have in collecting money and taking it to the bank? How much does it cost to have extra security measures like locks and surveillance? (and all that maintenance) I'm not saying that CC systems are immune to all this but I think there is less of it. Just points to ponder....

Yes but you need two devices so it consumes a larger footprint on meter box or you need to install a separate CC box to your meter box.

If one does a full analysis you probably are correct that is why we offer CC even on the Vacs which start at $2. I was just pointing out that rates can vary by money source. If I thought that customer usage would not be negatively impacted I would go cashless on all devices and at all my washes. I just see too many people without cc or phone apps for payment. One day. Europe is cashless in most places, even donation boxes in churches and street vendors.

I am also interested to know more on chargebacks, refunds, cost per device, can you choose your own processing company, device reliability in wet environment, etc.

So things are now interesting as KR has a March sale on Monex devices. Hardware sounds and looks very interesting but the devil will be in the details. Same one router setup as CryptoPay, WiFi for each box on equipment. Curious as to operating costs, longevity in our environments, and owner website controls/options for each device. If nothing else maybe now WP will become customer focused and responsive to customers. You cannot get a human on the phone there.

That Monex device looks very interesting to me. I can't wait for you guys to try it out first. 😁 Worldpay's customer service won't change for us Cryptopay customers because we are just a tiny share of their customers.

I am looking at them now as I may replace 12 CP swipers with them in the near future. Have a bunch of questions I need details on from Monex. If you know the answer to any of the questions below please let us know....

Installation, if replacing a CryptoPay swiper does the box use the same holes in our meter plates?

Owner control website, what does it look like and what functions does it offer owner.
I tried a Nayax box on our vending machine and it is not user or owner friendly - a waste of money.

Can I remotely give a customer time on the box as I can do with CryptoPay?

What functions are available to users & to owners for configuration? Can I use gift or loyalty cards?

Are there monthly fees?

Do I have a choice of payment processors, if so who can we use, if not what are the credit card processing fees (all in)?

What type of tech support do they have? Ideally once installed we do not need any but when we do we want to be able to speak with a human who can help resolve the issue.

It looks interesting to me as well, but then so did Nayax. I ended up never using the Nayax and selling them because of issues I didn't learn until afterwards. The Nayax I bought were for my Wash Select, not self-serve, but the issues would have been the same and they were:

1) Operator Interface on-line was absolutely horrible. Incredibly robust, but for me it was impossible to navigate and figure out.

Is the Monex interface easy to navigate?

2) The credit card statement would list "Nayax Vending" or something like that rather than my wash name. As far as I could figure out that wasn't changeable unless you opted to use a different card processor rather than the consolidated, flat percentage Nayax processing which is one of the reasons I wanted to use them.

How do the charges appear on the customers statement?

3) I forget what the amount was but there was a monthly fee for each terminal. It wasn't an issue for my application, but it would have been for my self-serves, given I would have 5 to 10 units at a site.

What is the monthly fee per device if there is one?

I'll do my best to answer. This was our second wash we took over that was strictly quarters, so this was a net-new install install. We have Nayax at our other wash, that I am planning to change over at some point this year.

Installation, if replacing a CryptoPay swiper does the box use the same holes in our meter plates?
Not sure, the readers have 4 bolts with nuts on the back. Nothing a drill press cant knock out.

Owner control website, what does it look like and what functions does it offer owner. Great data reporting, it shows sales by unit, card type, value of transaction, total count all on a dashboard automatically when you log in. There is a delay on sales reporting between what Monex shows and what my bank shows, so if I really want to know yesterdays sales I just check the bank deposit. Monex does have a weird deposit process that MAY create an issue if your bank limits the number of transactions your account can process in a day or month. Mondays for instance show 40+ deposits from Friday and the weekend. When I cross the 500 transaction mark my bank charges a monthly fee so I am keeping an eye on this.

I tried a Nayax box on our vending machine and it is not user or owner friendly - a waste of money.
Agree, I have units just on wash bays. I wanted to add 2 on the vacuums to see how they perform before fitting out the rest but voltage in the vac was too high for the readers, and their transformer process seemed not worth the effort. I returned the two extra units no problem.

Can I remotely give a customer time on the box as I can do with CryptoPay? No, but I was told its coming.

What functions are available to users & to owners for configuration? Can I use gift or loyalty cards? I can adjust the price on each unit individually or at one shot. Their tech support is virtual and picks up on the first ring - they can make changes for me remotely which is pretty cool. I asked about gift cards and wash cards and was told its in the beta phase and coming soon.

Are there monthly fees? Yes - this varies based on setup. I originally opted for a wireless 4G cellular router at $50/mo, but we have 2 buildings at 4 & 5 bays respectively. The signal did not reach the second building at all. I was fortunate that I had ethernet already run between both buildings so I ended up returning the router and manually wiring each unit via ethernet through the trough in the celling. Some bays had enough space in the conduit running down the ceiling to the meter box to run the cord internally. Some bays were to tight of a squeeze, so I have an exterior ethernet cord zip tied to the outside of the conduit and through the mounting plate. Ill grab a picture but this was easy. I opted to buy the equipment outright instead of financing it monthly.

Do I have a choice of payment processors, if so who can we use, if not what are the credit card processing fees (all in)? Nope. No option, but its been easy to work with. Dont remember who it is.

What type of tech support do they have? Ideally once installed we do not need any but when we do we want to be able to speak with a human who can help resolve the issue. See above, but I have been pretty impressed. I called on a Saturday before dinner because one reader wasnt processing, someone answered quickly and helped me figure out that I was stupid and unplugged something on my end.

The customer interface is fantastic! I asked customers and they were really impressed. Other wash in town is cryptopay swipe and we've had folks say they come to us because of swipe issues.

Here's a photo. We have two buildings and two different sets of meters at this site. This is our truck bay setup so the meter box was too small to face-mount the reader. We had enough space on the car bays to face-mount. We opted for the side-mount sold with the units for these. We had to drill two holes into the side mount and the meter box to through bolt, and a third hole for the wiring to the timer.

Local print shop made up decals that we placed directly above the reader on the mount to say pricing. Units are programmed to be a min. $5, and max $12 per transaction. Customers adjust the price with the arrows. Monex also sent a pretty decent hard vinyl sign that we hung next to each meter that provide instructions.

These things have done well in different temps and have been blasted by HP soap and do just fine!

My only complaint with this setup is that you can unscrew the four screws on the plate the unit sits on and have access to the back. I think that silly and not very secure. Working on a solution to this before some gets tempted.

Yeah, someone may be tempted to go in there and mess with wires to get a free wash. Some sort of security head screw would probably work as long as it's not something commonly available. Pin-in-hex and pin-in-Torx are not good choices in my experience.
