My first set came with a template. The second set did not. I prefer templates over measuring any day. I would suggest you use a piece of carboard and make a template. Easy to use repeaatedly.

If you call them they will email you a template. That is what I did and it made installation much easier.

A couple of tips; When choosing a mounting location, make sure you leave enough space below the swiper to allow for "follow thru" when they swipe. Also, I noticed the credit cards were scarring my meter box decal. I stopped by a luxury car dealer and got some scraps of a clear plastic they apply to the front ends and hoods of cars to repel rock chips. You can have it put on your car for $1000 but they were nice enough to give me a piece. I cut pieces to fit where the cards were exiting the swiper.

I don't know about anyone else that has installed these but when I did my first one and I used the template then attempted to mount the swiper I found the holes were off just a bit and had to redrill one of them. It was not off much ... when I mentioned it to the guys at cryptopay when I called to get them set up they mentioned that they sometimes copy them on a copy machine and that can change the spacing a small amount. It was not a big deal to enlarge the holes with a vari-bit but you could encounter that. Although I have not found as many customers using credit cards in the bays as I though would it is a nice option and it does seem to be picking up a bit but very slowly.

That is where it is nice to work with companies that use good CAD software. On a smaller flat surface mounting situation ... quick printouts on most printers will yield a perfect template every time. The 1:1 scale setting on the right kind of paper to work with is helpful... especially in a situation like this. I just had some water jetting done on some stainless pieces about the size of a magnetic card swiper for coin mech faceplates for our laundromat dollar coin mech upgrade project & it was nice to lay the faceplate on the pdf file printout & see the perfect alignments of everything including the holes placed.
