How long do the dixmor timers typically last before you have to replace them? Is there anyway that you can just replace the display instead or having the purchase the whole timer? Is there anything you can do to extend the life of the timers? My problem is always with the displays.

Dixmor repairs them at a fair price, send them in.
I have a few that are 25 years old, still using them in my vacs

Which timers you are asking about? I use the DX300's in the bays, and I send them in every 3-5 years to have the displays replaced because they get progressively dimmer. I have one go out every now and then due to a circuit board problem, but they always promptly fix and return. I've got a few of the LED6-s timers for the combo vacs in use, never had a problem with any of them and they don't seem to dim at all.

Depending on the model of the Dixmor timer most of them can be repaired for around $50. The older LED-3 timers can't be repaired any longer. Dixmor is using better LED display now and they seem to last as longer now. Call Nick at Dixmor.

I have six of the big DX-2000 timers, and the LEDs are failing to the point that one is almost unreadable. I've replaced that one with an LED-7 timer in the meter door and will eventually replace them all. Dixmor won't repair the DX-2000 timer displays because there are almost 600 LEDs that have to be de-soldered and removed one at a time and replaced, and it would cost more in labor than a new timer.

My DX-2000s are 20 years old, and I go by a wash once a month that has some original LED-3 timers that are 30 years old, so they can last a very long time. Unfortunately, Dixmor has been using cheap Chinese LED panels that don't last and sometimes start to fail after just a month or two, but they honor their warranties and will continue to repair them outside warranty in a lot of cases.

Mine are LED 6s that are not even 2 years old and all of them have missing digits and some are not even legible.

You can replace the segments yourself. They just pop out and plug in. You can get the Kingbright panels from mouser.com and they should last at least ten years. I have to replace the panels in the fragrance machines every ten years, costs about $30 for a set.

If there less than 2 years old send them back to Dixmor they are still under warranty. You can't replace the segments/blocks yourself on the LED-6 timers, the segments/blocks are soldered to the main board.

Dixor has been terrific about warranting their timers especially if they are relatively new.

I bought 4 LED-7 timers in year 2008. One for each bay plus a spare. I still have the spare and it has never been used.
