Owning a carwash definitely has its highs and lows especially if your the owner operator , at some point in time it really gets frustrating .

It's like the movie groundhog day in the carwash business: Clean up a mess. Find something broke (because something is somewhere) and fix it. Then clean up another mess. Then fix something else. Then clean up again.Every day.
PERFECT ANSWER
Somebody’s always leaving you a present if it’s not in the bay it’s in the trash can oh and by the way I broke the the wand and the brush you better get that fixed before somebody gets upset

I know several operators that sold their washes because of the monotony. Gotta admit that I enjoyed the business much more in the 90's and 2000s because I was busy buying or building and got to play with nice shiny new equipment and learn new things. Once I quit doing that the monotony set in. Having said that, the business has been great to me and I'd be a fool to change careers at this point.

I would image most career paths can loose their luster (pun intended) over several decades of involvement.

If I'm not fixing something, I'm trying to improve something, if I'm not improving something well then I'm fixing something. And in between all that I'm cleaning something, if there's time to lean there's time to clean. Sometimes it can be monotonous but I wouldn't have it any other way, beats the socks off working for somebody else!!!

And the funny thing is that customers often think we sit back counting quarters all day. Although when we stop laughing at their joke they do appreciate all the work put into the place as many remember the pit of a wash prior to my ownership (which is satisfying).

for me it's a good mix of improvements, repairs, and maintenance to keep things in good working order. I'm very thankful that I don't have all the tinkering and troubleshooting that was involved with my original automatic wash. With my new razor, I welcome The lighter repair schedule and have settled in to the razors maintenance schedule which shows up on the wash computer and lets me know when to do what. what a joy that is for me!

The car wash business has allowed me the time and energy to diversify. We do full service car detailing, I buy smashed up cars and repair and resell them,And I also own about 13 residential rental units and one commercial space which is a beauty salon. I can comfortably do all this with a very small staff. So for me,the car wash is a perfect fit it and was always a dream of mine.

But don’t get me wrong the wash businesses has been very good to me and I wouldn’t of changed a thing , I’ve owned a huge Truckwash with 3 100ft bays and a 75ft lube bay and that business was very very successful and now this one is 7 bays a truck bay and an automatic and it’s a very good business…
