The vendor manufacturer that builds our full size machines has developed a new version of the "Guaranteed Delivery System" called the Sensit III (3). The technology in this system is an enhancement of the Sensit II technology with an expanded memory capability and the ability to vend taller vending products such as the 16-20 Oz trigger pump bottles, 10 Oz Armorall bottles, 20 Oz tire foam spray cans, etc. These are normally too tall to fit into the vending machine without losing a tray plus they are difficult to vend because they bridge easily by leaning against the glass or land standing upright in the drop box. If the taller products land standing up, customers can not open the hopper door to retrieve them.

We have set up Sensit II machines for a few customers to vend these taller products by installing the taller products horizontally and finding a way to vend them. Installing the taller products horizontally solves two problems but may create an ?annoyance? on round cans or canisters. The two problems that are solved are the product does not stand up in the drop box and the product can not bridge by leaning against the glass. The one ?annoyance? is that the labels on round cans will not always face the customer for product recognition.

The new Sensit III system allows us (and operators) to couple two motors together, install the product horizontally, and vend these tall items successfully. The taller items have a much higher price point than most traditional car wash items in the vendor so the sales volume of the vendors should increase substantially. Operators should consider very carefully installing these larger items in their vending machines to increase the vending profits from their wash site.

There are two questions that logically follow. Can this new system be retrofit into existing Sensit II vendors if an operator wants to vend these taller items and can this new Sensit III system can be used in our new small, 18-selection Half-Pint (Vend-It size) and Half-Pint Junior (VendMaster size) vendors recently developed. The answer is Yes! You will not be able to vend as many total products obviously, but the total sales should increase because of the higher price point.

We are still learning about his new system, but, if you have questions on it, please contact us to find out about the new Sensit III.

16 Oz Bottle and Tall Spray Cans in Vendor Trays

The Sensit III system posted above allows us to vend the 16 oz bottles and spray cans by laying them down and vending them with the helixes 6-8 inches apart. Here are some pix to show how it might look.

On the bigger bottles, what are the chances of the head cracking or snapping off when it falls to the bottom? Or do you place some type of foam in the bottom to soften the blow?

Obviously you position the bottle for gravity to take affect and pull the heavy part down first, but you can't always trust the physics when gremlins are around! :)

Jeff L,

With the testing we have done with the older Senst II system, we have vended the bottles repeatedly without breaking any heads. They are pretty tough. We have had to tighten the screw-on spray heads on some bottles after repeated tests to keep them from leaking, but it shouldn't be problem in a one-time vend application.

With that being said we do have a spongy material and liner for the drop box to cushion the fall of these heavier items. Nothing like being over cautious here.

The gremlins do jump up to bite us now and then as you state. The bigger bottles are on their backs and drop straight down flat to the bottom of the hopper rather than heavy end first. In the original system we used a technique to "hook" the back of the trigger head to kinda flip the bottle into the hopper. If you'll notice in the picture, we try to put the bigger products in the center of the tray so it does not hit the kickers on each side of the hopper as it drops.

How this new Sensit III system will work has yet to be determined, but it should work better than the older Sensit II system.

Good Questions, Jeff.
