Here is my solution to the common 175 watt metal halide replacements.

I ordered this same light from my local electric supply house for $65.00
They are a direct replacement. They fit in the original lens perfectly. All you have to do is remove all the guts, and connect the 120 volt directly to the socket, put in the bulb and reap the savings! I already had the fixtures in place, so I felt there was no need to replace the entire lens, just the bulb.

The light on the left is the original 175 watt metal halide, the one on the right is the 28watt LED. No light output difference. Only savings in the electric bill!!

I saw a bulb like that but instead of having the LEDs all the way around they were just on one side. I'm thinking it might work better with all the light shining straight through the lens instead of some of it getting blocked by the bulb itself.

I ordered two of 37W canopy retrofit units for my dog wash. I'll update with a review once I get them installed.
