Hi all

Currently vacs are $1 for 4 minutes. Simple math 25cents for 60 seconds

New price will be $2 for 6 minutes. Simple math 25 cents for ?? Seconds I know I'm thinking too hard and confusing myself.

Multiply 60 by 6 comes out to 360 seconds, divide 360 by 8 comes out to 45 seconds per quarter.

Thanks, you made it so simple. I took a lot longer to get that answer and then was second guessing myself.

Chaz & Randy,

When the seconds in the bay & for whatever ... becomes less & less ... it becomes more & more compelling to find ways to encourage the better availability & use of higher denomination coins! Unless the operator buys into being totally dependent on merchant fee based payment systems.

Yes. We take quarters, dollar coins, ones and fives at our vacs. Also 10's and credit/debit at bays and auto and 20's at auto.

My question on math is just for reprogramming proposes as I adjust my time and price. The timers think in 25 cent increments

Bill accepters take 5' and 10's even 20's if you want. Better than dollars any day.

I guess all the Gas Stations who have a whopping 20% gross margin don't know what they are doing with CC pay at the pump.

Nobody is arguing that EMV acceptance is not a good fit for gas pumps. There is a percentage of us self serve vacuum operators who prefer to show the general public the value in not having bill acceptors on our coin op vacs but rather focusing more on having high quality coin acceptors. I was mostly pointing out that fewer seconds per coin operated vac ... makes the quarter less viable.

.00000001% is still a percent.

No you weren't, you were pushing your own agenda toward dollar coins again.

I agree.... talking to operators a large percentage (above .00000001%) seems to want bill acceptors in their vacs.... also in their bays.

Accepting bills everywhere should eliminate the need for coins.... and remove the need for a changer. I believe that was the reason for the bill breaker thread not to long ago?

This is one step before credit cards only or some other system. Also managing cash is actually not free and cost via equipment and time. Maybe the same as cc fees?

The problem is.... where would the local laundromat get their change from if I switch to just bills? LOL :)
