Microcoin Wiring

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
1. Install or replace long drop bracket on faceplate.
2. Coin cup may need to be removed and re-attached in order to mount faceplate.
3. Place Microcoin QL into the bracket and secure with lockable brace.
4. The two holes on the lockable brace are designed to fit over the screw heads on the back of the QL coin mechanism.
WIRING INSTRUCTIONS
Note 1: The blue and green wires are interchangeable.
Note 2: Dixmor timer users should skip to step 4.
1. Connect the black and a blue or green wire to the 24 VAC.
2. Connect the yellow wire to the Neutral.
3. The other blue or green wire (see note 1) connects to the
timer coin pulse.
4. Dixmor timers only:
Connect black wire to 24 VAC.
Connect yellow and a blue or green wire to Neutral.
Connect the other blue or green wire to timer coin pulse
Didn't you get installation instructions when you bought the coin acceptor? We've been tossing the Micro coin coin acceptors when they fail and are going back to the Slugbuster III. At least you can get a Slugbuster repaired.

I’ve never used slugbusters before. I’ve only used IDX’s. That what my wash came with and I had pretty decent luck out of them plus I was able to send them in and get them repaired for a reasonable price. I don’t think that’s an option anymore as I believe IDX has gone out of business or been gobbled up? It’s unfortunate bc I have 4 or 5 MA 850s that I could’ve gotten repaired much cheaper than purchasing anything new. What kind of life are you getting out of slugs? What kind of life did you get out of the microcoins? What made you switch? Who repairs the slugs once they go bad?

IDX went bankrupt about 6 months ago and are now back in business under a new name, I’ve forgotten the name of the company. We at one time had probably 25 or 30 IDX coin acceptors. When they would fail we’d send them for repair, they would last more than a couple of months and we’d have to send them back. We gave up on them and as they failed, we tossed them into the garbage, where they should have been in the first place. We used the Slugbuster coin acceptors prior to using the IDX coin acceptors, so we have a lot of them, some are over 20 years old. We use the Slugbuster III with the EZ door. They last a long time, easy to set up. We are very satisfied with them. Getting one repair is very easy we send them back to the factory. The Micro coin QL are OK, they don’t stand up to the abuse in some coin box that get beat on very well. We found that the new QL coin acceptors area real PITA to program. What do you do with them when they need to be repaired.

IMO, Microcoins are the way to go. They are the best. We tried out slugbuster, they are way more finicky than microcoin. Slugbuster uses a sample size of 1 coin to compare, microcoin uses at least 10 as the sample size and more if you want, which all but alleviates small discrepancies in coins and tokens.

Ive got both, for customer useability i like the microcoins more as they tend to reject less coins but usually once you get a slugbuster dialed in they are VERY reliable. I do like being able to send slugbuster in for repairs or recalibration ($65 was the last one i sent back)

TY, i have one microcoin that was giving me problems about a month ago. i threw a new one in and was going to do some looking to see if they could or could not be repaired. This has helped tremendously.
