I have been absent from the Forum for a few months retreating to my cave to finish the building of the first ShurVend VendPro-iG4EE designed specifically for the fast growing Express Exterior (EE) car wash models being built across the industry. In the EE models that I have seen and/or sold vendors to in years past, the vending machine was placed in an alcove with a steel roll down door or in a place where the vendor is out of sight of the free vacuum customer. The “behind a steel door” installations I have seen are not very secure and have been vandalized repeatedly rendering vending income almost non-existent. If the vendor is “out of sight” of the vandals, it is also out of sight of the customer.

We felt security was top priority for this vendor and that it was imperative that a simple way be found to secure the vendor during the night time when the EE is closed. We thought of all kinds of electronic alarms and other means to deter the vandals, but the expense of doing this got ridiculous. Besides the police departments don’t much care or respond to alarms at 2 A.M. in the morning plus people are so used to alarms going off that they ignore them. We wanted something simple that the attendants could do easily and quickly with no “fancy tools or electronic knowledge” necessary.

As a result we showed our proto-type for the ShurVend VendPro-iG4EE at the Car Wash Show 2013 held in April in Las Vegas. We used comments made at the show to guide us in tweaking the design to work better. The high security VendPro-iG4EE is designed for installation in the free vacuum area of Express Exterior washes now being built and should be very visible to your customers; therefore it must be a high security machine. The risk of vandalism on the vendor is greatest at night when the wash is closed, so the VendPro-iG4EE needs to be protected and locked up by your attendants at closing and then reopened in the morning to begin business. We added a second solid steel door that folds over the window and all the openings needed to operate the vendor. When the wash is opened in the morning, the second steel door is unlocked, folded back and up against the side of the vendor where it is latched to hold it in place. The front of the vendor is open and ready for business

Many of the new Express Exterior washes do not have any vending provided for their customers, so we think the operators are leaving money on the table by not providing vending as a profit center when they are giving vacuum time away. We have completed and sold the first VendPro-iG4 vendor to a new Express Exterior Wash here in California. There are two more VendPro-iG4EE vendors on order. This 32-selection vendor can be powder coated in almost any color, is free standing or can be installed against a wall, is bolted down in the concrete, and is priced at less than $6000.

I'm not even sure what I did, Pat, but it worked. Still much to complicated to add a pix to a post.
