I have been absent from the Forum for a few months retreating to my cave to finish the building of the first ShurVend VendPro-iG4EE designed specifically for the fast growing Express Exterior (EE) car wash models being built across the industry. In the EE models that I have seen and/or sold vendors to in years past, the vending machine was placed in an alcove with a steel roll down door or in a place where the vendor is out of sight of the free vacuum customer. The “behind a steel door” installations I have seen are not very secure and have been vandalized repeatedly rendering vending income almost non-existent. If the vendor is “out of sight” of the vandals, it is also out of sight of the customer.
We felt security was top priority for this vendor and that it was imperative that a simple way be found to secure the vendor during the night time when the EE is closed. We thought of all kinds of electronic alarms and other means to deter the vandals, but the expense of doing this got ridiculous. Besides the police departments don’t much care or respond to alarms at 2 A.M. in the morning plus people are so used to alarms going off that they ignore them. We wanted something simple that the attendants could do easily and quickly with no “fancy tools or electronic knowledge” necessary.
