I am trying to decide if I need to get the 2500GPD for 2200 GPD membranes to the replace what I have now. What determines the size needed?

Good question. Ideally you want to use the one the system was designed for. Some of them don't have adjustments and just have solid fittings drilled out to a certain size to allow the right amount of flow, and usually have a pump made for a particular flow. If a system like that is made for a 2200 GPD and you put a 2500 in it, the pressure won't reach what it's supposed to and the product quality will suffer. Most equipment has an adjustment somewhere to control pressure, so you can use most any membrane as long as you keep it under 200 PSI. You can use the 2500 in your Coleman unit.
FWIW, I only use Dow Filmtec, and I always rebed the charcoal filter with new membranes. They usually last about ten years.

Thanks. I have 2 Coleman units, and at one location with the 2 IBA's, I put in 2500's when I replaced them, and at my SS only location, I put in 2200's thinking I didn't need that much output. I now need to likely replace the SS only location as my TDS is 160. Water is soft and no chlorine in the water, so either membranes are shot or a seal is bad allowing water to by pass them. I have a feeling it's a seal, but haven't taken them apart yet. I should probably change all the o-rings just in case.

The Dow Filmtec membranes are 3.9" vs. 4" for the KR brand. Will that matter? Also, why do you prefer the Dow membranes?

No, that's just someone rounding up.
I've never had any trouble with them that was a flaw in the membrane. I've sold and installed hundreds of them and I know they're good. I don't like to take chances on cheap stuff, especially with Kleen-Rite who will not back the product.

If your TDS is that high, unless your output flow is down too near zero GPM, it sounds like o rings or membrane seals may be bypassing untreated water.

I really feel like it's an o-ring issue, but need to take them apart and check. They are not easy to disassemble. I changed it so that it's rejecting 3 for every 2 gallons and got it down to 67, but something is wrong.

Several years ago, I took a chance and got two membranes from eBay. Do a search for " CW XLE-4040 Replaces AXEON HF4-4040 & HF5-4040 RO Membrane 4" x 40" 2600 HF4 HF5 ". The seller is located on the Coast.
These membranes replaced a couple of name brand membranes...and were $175 each.....and are Extra Low Energy.
They've been fantastic.
TDS between 0 and 1 ppm.
I wouldn't hesitate to do it again.
