RO Blue Filter

Hello, Are we supposed to change the filter in the blue cone thing? I do measure the ppm on a weekly basis and its consistently 10ppm. Do I need to bother?

I assume you're talking about the prefilter. You should change it at least every 6 months. If I can find it I'll post a picture of one that hadn't been changed in over a decade. The filter was crushed.

It doesn't look too happy...

The old one is probably much finer. The spun one in your left picture are 10 micron. I always use 5 micron, mainly because that's what is in the systems new.

oh I thought 10 micron is better than 5 micron..it seems to be the other way around.. I'm going to change this every 6 month (I promise, haha) so no need to stick to the old type one?

10 should be good, 5 is better because it will filter even smaller particles. The pleated one you had was likely 1 micron. The less crap that gets to the membrane, the longer it will last.

The micron rating refers to the size of the "holes" in the filter and thereby the size of the sediment that will pass through. A micron is a unit of measure - one millionth of a meter. So the lower the micron rating, the smaller the sediment the filter will capture.
