I have a Ryko SoftGloss IBA that has recently exhibited a new problem. I get a call once or twice a week that the unit is down. I get to the wash and the Gantry is at the back of the bay. I check all the breakers, error codes, etc and nothing seems to be wrong. I manually move the gantry back to home and everything works fine.

I suspect that customers are driving off during the dry cycle and the Ryko never times out and resets. What should happen if a customer drives off in the middle of the dry cycle? Any other ideas of what could be going wrong?

I had a similar issue and it was a mac valve. One of the functions are not operating properly, so it just shuts down when it gets to that function. Check your air pressure for all functions and try to find out at what point exactly the wash shuts down.

Do you have cameras at this location? Does the customer tell you what cycle is is in when it does shut down? I have times where I will get a e-mail stating my Softgloss is down but when I arrive it is in the same position yours is in all brushes retracted but it is from the top brush not going back up fast enough at the rear of the vehicle it gets hung up on the cabling or hoses from the boom that I constantly have the readjust!, I wish Ryko would make the SoftGloss with a E-Chain instead of the boom style same goes for Radius Ht.

So I am not having customers complain that the wash didn't complete their cycle. The only complaints that I am getting is that the wash is not ready for the next customer. This is one of the points that makes me think the previous customer left early intentionally.

I did recently change out the air cylinder for the top brush. It went out about a month ago.

Cameras are my next purchase. They would really come in handy for a problem like this.

If you look in the machines diagnostics history, it should give you a good idea of what happened. The diagnostics history provides not only the diagnostic 4 digit code, but also the sequence code information to let you know what part of the cycle the machine was in when that code occurred. You can see codes if a driver left the bayplates during the wash, but you can also see if there are codes that actually took the machine down. If you have a 4 digit code with the first digit being either an 8 or a 9, those codes will take the machine down.

Since you mentioned replacing the TB air cylinder last month, this would be a good example. If the machine is at the rear, and the top brush starts decending while trying to drive forward, it would shut the machine down instantly and it would have tagged a code.

Darin,

Sorry to hijack the thread
Why hasn't Ryko implemented the use of the E-Chain Cable Carrying System with the SoftGloss MAXX or the Radius HT? seems that every other Car Wash Manufacturer is doing why not Ryko?

Steve, this is off-topic for this thread, but if you look across all the different manufacturer platforms, there is a wide variety of boom designs being used. Several are using an articulated boom design, while others are using the caterpillar E-chains or taglines. Each method will have strengths and weaknesses. The articulated boom is a straight forward design that allows easy access to the hoses and cables for maintenance and has served us well over the years on most of our machines. On our 3 brush equipment, the overall machine height was taller, so use of the caterpillar was a better option. Like all manufacturers, we weigh the pros and cons for the various methods as we consider the design of the machine.
