Debra & others,
A few years ago I posted about a developer-contractor-real estate "hoopie dee do" young glamorized local entrepreneurs company where their concrete boys came in immediately after a tarring of a basement foundation job. The "stickiest imaginable tar not a little bit" in the tandem bay ... but all over the walls, the closed overhead polycarbonate
doors, hoses, lighting on the walls,
coin boxes ... foaming brushes. Close to 10 man hours (intense clean up) with several hours of bay shut down.
Randy's remark about the perps' reaction when confronted ... I could relate to ... them being totally oblivious to the gravity of the situation & even to some extent permanent damage. I finally, got one of the "about 30 year old bosses" to stop by because of a very much delayed call from the local city attorney's office (heavy steel bars in front of their office) upon my extensive showing of pictures & other 100% evidence. Unbelievable ... the bosses must have thought they was immune to any suggestions from me... that they did wrong ... because he still balked & insisted on the most minimal reimbursement with his nonchalant flippant "YOU WOULD HAVE HAD TO DO A CLEAN UP ANYWAY" His version of it ... as if it was anything close to a normal clean up job. Maybe the extremely calloused young owner thought he had much greater influence over the local media ... in case a reporter picked up on it? Who knows ... maybe a reporter buddy of his ... could have twisted the incident into making the car wash the bad guys??? Hopefully ... the local media would not have been that bad ... but sometimes you never know for sure.
