I am going to upgrade the vacs at one of my washes soon. My question is what coin acceptors should I go with and why? I have used Parker Slugbuster and Ginsan Sensortron and they are ok I guess but I wanted some input from others.

We use MicroCoin QL Coin Acceptor from Kleen Rite and don't have many problems there pricey but we use them because we take quarters gold dollars & free vac tokens form our auto and this was our best option. GOOD LUCK

Thanks guys. I will check those out. I only use quarters so I don't really need multi coin acceptance but I want reliability. Slugbusters have been pretty good. I really am not too impressed with Sensortron.

Sensortrons used to be good, but they just don't last anymore, and they don't repair them outside of warranty. Since you're quarters only I'd suggest Slugbuster II.

We have always repaired Sensortrons outside of warranty unless they are over 15 years old. The cost is $40 plus shipping.

Same here. I only take quarters and have 8 sensortrons. Some are over 20 years old and still chugging along.

It's been some time, but I was told by someone at GinSan that only Multitrons were repaired outside of warranty.

I was also told that Sensotrons were not repairable when I called in the past. I get about 5 years use before they quit working. I think they are very good for the price but I agree with most others that microcoin QL is the way to go.

Must have been quite some time ago because I've been here 20 years and we've always fixed them. We did not institute the 15 year cutoff until about 7 or 8 years ago.

I have mostly sensotrons, been very reliable. Any new ones I put in have been slugbuster 2's as they make it easier to clear coin jams, which is basically the only issue I have.

The issue I have with Sensortrons for the most part is spotty acceptance. Even if they are adjusted all the way to accept anything, they will still reject at least half the quarters. I had one the other day that worked ok to start but once running the timer if any more quarters were added, it would reset the timer. Timer is a dixmor LED 7 and yes, I tried swapping timers, disconnecting horn, etc. Replacing the acceptor fixed it. I have one right now that always rejects the first quarter and then will accept quarters after the first reject. I will admit that I haven't tried cleaning them yet and they are probably pretty old. I have been replacing with Slugbusters as I have had pretty good luck with them at my other wash and they are cheaper. If they can be repaired for $40, I may stick with them because I don't mind paying a little more for a repairable acceptor.
