I just got my record setting water bill for the first quarter of the year. 901,000 gallons used. $5700. I have a 5 & 1. Due to the cold weather the weep was running most of the quarter ( I do have a weep mizer).

How does that usage compare to yours?

WOW!!! Is part of the $5700 the Sewer bill also? My Water bill is in Cubic Feet not Gallons and it’s no where’s near that. $5700 cuts into the profit margin pretty hard.

just paid mine today...used 222,400 gallons last month....paid $2449.74
Water portion of that bill was 722.19, sales tax on that was 66.80 and the sewer charge was $1660.75

Have a 6 and 2 location. Oh yeah....as if this wasn't bad enough...we are charged a "stormwater" fee of $120 per quarter:eek:

Yes, that includes sewer. Sewer is by far the majority of the bill. The $5700 is for 3 months.

Sounds like we are pretty close.

My weep water really added up this season. I will look into an anti freeze purge system before next winter.

Hey Ric ,Hows it going? Do you weep your Auto? I have been running a Blowdown on our inverted L type automatics ,with very good results, for a number of years now. just a thought..

$4200 in January (water and sewage)
$3200 in February (water and sewage)
I will need to check the consumption.

Oh yeah, by the way, I have a reclaim system! Highest rates on the east coast as far as i know.

Ric--that is only $6.33 per 1000 gallons used. That is not too bad. I have a location @ $10.50/1000, one @ $10/1000, and one @$9.85/1000. Look for water and sewer rates to continue upward, as municipalities are squeezed for funds.

Lag,

Doing good. Tell me more about what you are doing with the blow down. I must put something into place before next winter.

I would think it is cheaper to add doors and heat to a automatic bay compared to weeping water through it all the time. My most expensive location for water and sewer is about 25% less than the original post. I have 3 other locations that are 50% less.

The blowdown is triggered by temp falling. When temp is low it will purge after each wash unless another wash is triggered. I have in the past had 3 relays , and 2 timers for controls. I now use a plc. I also have a fill system on the underbody so the pipes will have water in it when the UB comes on. I also had to add a couple of check valves.

We do have bigger compressors to operate them. your compressor should be able to hold at 150 psi with a 1/2 inch solenoid open for 30-40 seconds.

I would be happy to speak to you about the blowdowns if you thought it could help you out.
