I've had a Petit since 2015 and it's still very reliable
As a 10 year old machine should be. That on par with most manufacturers. It would be a shame if it wasn't. Like I stated in my post there is nothing special about them. They have parts that wear and tear just like any other machine. A machine doesn't just last because it does. It's all about the maintenance and TLC.

I would consider a machine with over 200k washes on it a machine that has throughly been put through its paces.

I don't have a bad thing to say about any machines that I haven't used. I only have bad things to say about the ones I have used and don't like. Like the Laser G5.

They way parts are engineered to wear and tear is what sets one machine apart from another. I have seen 2yo machines (from multiple manufacturers) that were properly taken care of still have many problem's because of bad engineering, bad design, and cheap parts.

I would love to have a spreadsheet of all IBA's looking at failure rate per 10k washes over 10 years. This would would be the true test...

My brother and I built a new wash in our hometown and installed an Oasis no touch unit. weve had some decent challenges so soliciting some input from this group to help us get a feel for “normal”.

The Oasis team has been responsive and helpful Post initial install, they have been on-site a few times and we’ve had numerous calls to work through issues. We had a few noteworthy install blunders but they worked with us to get those ironed out. My questions…

How long should we expect a high pressure hose to last? We are on our 3rd?

what’s average life on in bay sensors? We’ve swapped out a couple position and I believe at least one count sensor in the bridge.

We’ve had a couple valves fail in the mechanical room - assume those are normal wear?

We’ve had a few of the low pressure chemical “valves” (not sure on correct verbiage here) fail, assume those are normal wear?

in the bridge, our chemical line connections keep cracking and leaking chemicals, any upgrades or fixes anyone has found?

we have a weird issue with the lower position sensor bracket where the chemicals are eating it away, we are on our third and were told chemicals are just hard on them?

our low pressure system went offline today, trying to figure that out. First checked breakers (all good), we can manually get it to kick on by sound but won’t move pre soak, triple foam, etc so can’t seem to get it back online. Any ideas here would be much appreciated

I came to the forum to see if we were experiencing the norm, would like more experienced perspective as to whether this is “routine breakage” for most? We just shy of 16k total washes on the system

sounds abnormally problematic to me. the razor i bought has about 30,000 washes on it and i have replaced a set of photo eyes and one hi pressure hose.

may not have even needed the photo eyes; i never was quite sure that they were bad.

My brother and I built a new wash in our hometown and installed an Oasis no touch unit. It’s been nothing but headaches the last two years and we struggle to keep it running even with their help. The support crew has been responsive and helpful but they’re even struggling to understand just how bad our system has been so far. I’m not on a witch hunt here but we are extremely frustrated and disappointed at this point in the cost of our unit and continuous breakdowns we’ve had and continue to have.

Again, they’ve been pretty responsive, have been on-site a few times, and we’ve had numerous calls. Here’s a sampling in a couple years…opening weekend the sensors were wired incorrectly and ripped the crap out of a ladies bumper, buy ups were coded wrong and if someone bought buy ups it would just melt down and not wash until we reset things, we’re on our third high pressure hose, we’ve had to replace the pulleys and bracket on the main pump as it would shred belts, we’ve replaced valve assemblies in the bridge so much I’ve lost track as they crack and leak like a sprinkler, multiple high pressure valves swapped out, we’ve rebuilt the “lava” units with parts from our local hardware store as they wanted like $2000 for the parts that didn’t make it to our second anniversary, low pressure chemical valves break pretty consistently, we’ve replaced multiple in bay sensors, sensor brackets “melt” from the chemicals so we replace six months or so, we clean the $hit out of the dollar bill dispenser and it jams weekly in the Unitec portal, and today we were having a stellar day our low pressure system bit the dust so we are down. Just happens to be a sunny weekend after snow and ultra cold temps…a lot of lost revenue.

I came to the forum to see if we were experiencing the norm or if we literally somehow got a “lemon” and came across this thread. If we make it a month without a major issue, my brother and I think we’ve really achieved something.

Would love some experienced perspective as to whether this is “routine breakage” for most? We just shy of 16k total washes on the system
That does not sound rigjt at all. Sounds way outta the norm for Oasis, & most US made machines
Everyone i know with Oasis loves it. Most giys love their particular iBA, except maybe D&S guys.

We've had our typhoon for almost a year now and we have 30,246 washes on it and we've had to replace 2 hp lines and 2 hydraulic lines do to where it was rubbing against parts of the cable trays. The only problems we've had were that the set it up with the wrong nozzle sizes when they sent it to us and we keep on getting a front wand count up prox switch error which was due to a faulty home prox. Other than that, it has been working just fine.

No that not the norm. Theres thousands of oasis owners that testify to that. You either have had the worst luck in the world, have the worst distributor/install, or this is all BS. Betting on the BS.

Here are the breakdowns you mentioned.

Sensors wired wrong - Bad install
Ripped car bumper off - Sensor are either NO/NC. Machine will not run if wired wrong. PLC looks for inputs.
Buy ups coded wrong - bad install/distributor
3rd high pressure hose - bad install/distributor (hoses are too long or too short)
Pulley and Brakets - few years ago they did have an issue. They fixed it and replace parts were sent out at no charge.
Valve assemblies that leak like a sprinkler head? not sure what your talking about
High pressure valves - I dought any of those went bad. Also made by DEMA not Oasis.
Lava Units - Not sure what would cost 2K rebuilding them. A new foamer is 2K.
Low pressure chemical valves - Made ny Hydraflex not oasis. Pretty much a standard for most car washes now a days
Multiple in bay sensors - There is no way. Maybe one goes bad as a fluke but not multiple. Also made by IFM. A LARGE sensor manufacture.
Sensor brackets MELT? This is a first. If that is TRUE I would look into a different chemical.
Dollar Bill dispenser jams - A unitec problem and an everyday car wash problem.

Im calling BS on 95% of this.

Ok, trying to understand if our situation is “normal”, stating I’m full of BS is a bit much but reread my post after a night of turning cars away and refunding folks for no soap and I certainly came in hot.

I’ve edited my first post, this isn’t an Oasis bash, we really are struggling to achieve what feels like “normal” maintenance level for us. We built a wash and aren’t long time industry people with lots of experience and I expected to have a decent learning curve as well but the problems and magnitude of those problems seem to have been way more than we anticipated. I’m by no means an expert and I’m sure I used some incorrect terminology above as well, my apologies there.

As I said, Oasis has been responsive and that’s been helpful but even their support guys have made comments on our situation as we went directly through them and continue to for parts and service, no distributor involved. We will keep grinding, I’ll not solicit additionally here but appreciate the initial feedback as it helps give insight into what others are experiencing. Sounds like we need to keep attacking until we get it lined out.

Honestly, I am glad to hear dollar bill dispensers just don’t work across all car washes, trying to refund someone in person weekly or texting out free codes is a pain but sounds normal.

Thank you for this input. I assumed this was the case and this time around I removed the “divider” brackets that keeps all the hoses separated to see if that reduces wear. Beyond that it kind of has to sit in that rolling tray so any advice beyond what I’ve done is greatly appreciated.

I would keep the dividers in because it is there to prevent the hp and hydraulic lines from rubbing against the lp lines and the cable that are in the e chain, plus it helps keep things organized and easier to work on it. One thing you could do to reduce wear on your hp and hydraulic lines is to get some hose wrap and put it on all your lines.

I'm waiting on the Petit owners to chime in with the same problems. If they do will someone also step in and call their story BS?

@Blanco, your defensiveness is your weakness. You deflect and assume but don't ask further questions. How does this help?

@MO_Wash , did you install your own machine? How long has it been running?

We are geographically close to Oasis HQ and bought directly from them and they did the install. I’ll reiterate the initial install had some notable blunders but Oasis made those right, it was just a bit of a surprise to us out of the gate. It’s a complex machine so I’ll certainly give them those and they made it right, all I can ask for on those issues.

I cleaned up my original post to try and focus on the items that seem a bit more excessive to us and hoping for some solid insight on whether our experiences are truly normal and it’s just part of the industry, if there are things we can do to help (the hose wrap link above is really appreciated and insight on the actual value of the dividers), etc

We’ve been up and running a couple years and currently at 16k washes.

We did swap out the proximity sensors and main bridge sensor ourselves after working with their support to diagnose those problems. Maybe bad luck, I’m hoping they last a bit longer over the long term. The low pressure chemical line connections in the bridge that keep cracking have us stumped. Oasis came insight and swapped them out once even.

I’ll post what we figure out with the low pressure situation upon resolution. It could certainly be something simple that we’ve not yet faced in the end and if so, great and lesson learned the hard way. Stay tuned.

Do you have a XP or a Typhoon? Im assuming a XP.

A HP hose should last for around 24000 washes. Not all hoses are the same. Also if there not fitted correctly they will wear out a lot sooner.
Sensors - The bigger IGS 5785 last forever. The smaller IGS 208 sensors fail more often. Sometimes 2 years sometimes 5 if not more.
You should have no valves failing at all. Im assuming you're talking about HP valves.
Low pressure valves usually do not fail. You may get a plugged up injector.
Where are your chemical lines cracking in the bridge? Is it a heated machine? Has the machine froze at all?
The lower sensor bracket is made out of aluminum. If your chemicals are eating it away then you ned to consider differant chemicals.

Low pressure system

There is no breaker. There is a contactor in the control cabinet. First thing you should check is see if the booster pump is kicking on when you do a remote function.

If it is. Then you need to make sure your air compressor is working. The hydra flex valves are air operated.

If the pump does not run then check the contactor in the cabinet and see if the overload has tripped to start with.

Hope this helps you out.

You want the dividers. Make sure your HP hose sits directly in the middle of the radius of the IGUS tube. Thats a proper fit and the way to make a hose last. Also you want to make sure the hose is straight and was not tightened with just one wrench. If it was it will spin the hose.

And im still waiting a reply back on last thread that you made yourself look like a total dumba$$.

See attached. In case you forgot to reply.

You should really do yourself a favor and refrain from commenting and mentioning me. It has not gone good for you anytime you do and it's getting old plus it's a waste of my time.

XP correct.

appreciate the insights

Yeah, we could kick on the pump with the remote function but couldn’t get any air movement so assumed air line, valve, blockage, etc issue related. I checked breakers first as we’ve had them kick for a few things in the past but realized later what you’ve stated.

Compressor was holding steady and regulator leaving tank was strong so assumed blockage or valve issue.

This morning we fired up the wash and it worked…go figure. Upon review of the air pressure regulators and validation with Oasis support, they didn’t feel like they were initially setup to maintain consistent prolonged usage and they recommended they be increased. We were actually able to continuously drop LP regulator pressure while maintaining ample pressure at compressor/tank so their working theory is the regulator leaving the tank was dialed down too much causing the LP todrop too low causing a valve to close and then the pressure spiked keeping it closed. We were on track to smash our single day record so this theory tracks.

once we adjusted a couple regulators we taxed the system and couldn’t get them to budge. It’s held steady today so I’m hopeful this was the actual issue.

I’ll try to capture some pics, really appreciate the insight and willingness to help crew. It is heated (propane radiant heat in the ceiling and we’ve not had anything freeze)

You are so angry and bitter. It is obvious to everyone but you how abrasive and bias you are. You don't like Petit ok dude grow up and move on. You have zero data to comment on a Petit's reliability and when people that do have data comment you call them liars. I know alot of Petit customers that get 100,000 cars plus out of hoses and sensors.
