    Replacing MH with CFL Revisited

Another fyi--- I just had one go out yesterday. My install date was 10/13/10. It burns 24/7 in my auto bay. So that is about 12,000 hours---2000 more than it is rated for. It was the 105 watt mogul base full spectrum bulb.

    ww 1 blow down

I could not find anything in my book. I am not totally familiar with this unit, as it was alrerady in place at an existing wash I bought. I think I will just eliminate it all together, as I have doors and heat. Now as I think about it, it is just a waste of water and soap for me to have it...

    ww 1 blow down

Does anyone know if there is a way to set/ adjust the blow down. When my unit is in the freeze mode, it blows down immediately after wash completion. I have drive-thru blowers. So occasionally, as the vehicle is exiting through the dryers, it is getting soap blown on it. I am thinking of...

    Replacing MH with CFL Revisited

Just fyi-- I have had about 8 out of 24 fail. All but one within the first week. The last one went at about 8 months. Still under warranty, though. 1000bulbs.com did not seem too concerned about it. They just went ahead and sent out replacements; not requiring return of the defective ones.

    Replacing MH with CFL Revisited

Yes, I have done 16. You have to bend the socket bracket upward and inwards, then slowly close the cover. Just before you are all the way closed, you should be able to see if it is hitting. I admit, I broke one by getting in a hurry. But there is plenty of room to bend the socket up and in...

    Replacing MH with CFL Revisited

Indiana--I do not think you will be happy with the light output from the flourescents on a 35 foot pole. I changed four units on 15 foot poles, and that was just ok. The flourescents do not get the light to the ground like the halides. I would suggest converting them to 250 watt or 320 watt...

    Redo wash equip

Then this begs the question: What does draw customers in, and keep them coming back? Do some faded, scratched or missing decals, signs, and/or coin boxes not matter to the average ss customer? Do they stop at the older facility because it is closer, when there is a nicer, new or rehabbed...

    Replacing MH with CFL Revisited

The correct way, would be to add in a step down transformer. The illegal way is to take one hot lead, and use the ground; then tape off the remaining hot lead. I did this on 2 fixtures up high out of any customer reach. I think transformers may be around $70. Or you could rewire the circuit...

    Replacing MH with CFL Revisited

I have switched about 15 fixtures with no issues. Replacing 175 and 250 mh with the 105 watt full spectrum (5000k) from 1000bulbs.com. No cold issues whatsoever. Nice bright, white light. Also put these in four 400 watt mh fixtures over vacuum stations.

    R/O excessive reject water

Change the procon pump. I just had the same issue. My procon needs replaced about every 2-3 years. I keep a spare on hand, then send the old one to EDCO Services for a rebuild.
