Tankless water and radiant heat questions

Sorry, I did not specify. The 30 gallon tank is open It is fed with a regular Watts 2 stage float valve with cold city water. It draws from the bottom; same as what you are doing. I have no pressure feeds. The advantage to my set up is that you do not have to have multiple heaters to feed the...

Tankless water and radiant heat questions

The Rinnai heats the coil only, which in turn heats the water in the 30 gallon tank. It is similar to the "old" way, in which you had a monster boiler looping to an open tank. But here I am able to maintain 30 gallons of hot water with one Rinnai. The Rinnai flow is only 7.5 gallons per...

Tankless water and radiant heat questions

Just an alternate way to hook the tankless up---I use one single 199,000 btu Rinnai, for a 9 bay s/s. I have a closed loop boiler coil inside a 30 gallon stainless tank, that runs to the Rinnai with a Grundfos circulator.(a fresh water line keeps pressure on the system) The circulator is...

    Looking for opinions

Yes, exactly. Those folks that say "$5 to wash??", you respond yes, but you get a half hour. In most cases they realize what a fantastic deal it is. There will still be a few that say--I just want a quick rinse, or I just want to wash my wheels or mats. We just always try to convince those...

    Looking for opinions

I have been $5 for 30 minutes at four locations since 2003. I have double floor loops to shut bays off upon exit, and to keep two cars from washing at once. It has worked well for me. There are a few that use their full 30 minutes. The Summer/Fall average is 14 minutes. The Winter/Spring...

    Good Deals on a DVR

I will ditto what Earl said. I ordered 2 units without the dvd burner; bad idea. I think I saved all of $175 each. It is most annoying using the flash drive, or downloading to a pc, then burning the disk. It seemed like a good idea at the time, but hind sight is usually 20/20.

    Good Deals on a DVR

I like Rugged. I have 5 units; hopefully ordering 2 more after some Winter income shows up. The Rugged team is great on customer service, and units are easy to use. I would go with the 1Tb hard-drive, though.

    Weepmizer thermostat adjustment

On the back of the sensor cube, there is a small set screw beneath the silicone. You turn it one way or the other to calibrate. Turning it one complete turn clockwise will lower the reading about 2 degrees. Pack the sensor in ice water for 15 minutes, and it should read 32-33. That is the...

Good. It is a waste, and most folks do not want them or want to use them.

    Mud business

No. I decline the mudders quite frequently. I make them understand just because they put their money in, does not mean they can do what they want. I respect my facilities, and I expect them to do the same. My policy is: no heavy mud---period---no exceptions. The non-rednecks appreciate it...

    Alabama washes at auction

Holy smoke! That is lousy; even for delapidated equipment/building. I think it speaks volumes about how the industry is going right now. Thanks for the update.

    Currency Counters...

Ditto with the Cumminns Jetscan 2-pocket. I have not hand counted money in 6 years. It was $4k new. But I have 4 locations; so $1k per location. It is unbelievable how easy money counting is now. Have not had any issues with it. Blow it out every few weeks, and it is good to go!

    EQ room heater

Go to Mcmaster.com and put in 17855k37. This is a gas radiant heater 22,000btu for $341. I have 2 of these units installed in two different equipment rooms. They work very well, and do not require electric or venting. Bigger size is not much more in price; if needed.

    Power Optimizer?

If you have a demand charge on your electric bill, your best investment is Allen Bradley smc-3 soft starters. I added these to my dryers at one location and shaved 5-6 kW off my monthly demand charge. That equates to $110-132 savings per month. The units cost me $550 each for four added to 7.5...

    Help! Customer just called....

I have a ground clearance posted on the very beginning of my signage. 4 inch minimum. I had this happen once with some modified vehicle. It was only 2.5 inches off the ground. I did not cover repairs becasue my signage also states "no non-stock accessories". This covered me since it was...

    Bay Heater Thermostat

I agree with Soapy. Use the A419. I mount the control box in the equipment room, and run the probe out to the bay. This keeps the control box dry and working. I have 6 of these units. I do keep a spare probe though, as I have had one fail. Spare probe was about $15 from plccenter.com.
