I always thought I didn't want the hoses too secure. That way it would come apart if someone hooked it with the car. Now thinking of using the self tapping screw. any experience if hose will tear before ripping boom down if someone hooks it with their car?

HAd the same issue. Had to make sure I used a heavier hose to solve issue.

When a $100 machine breaks after several years you just replace it. Cheaper than any repair on any machine.

FWIW I keep one spare on hand plus a rebuild kit. I swap in the spare when we change the clocks - twice a year - and rebuild the one tthat was in use and that becomes the spare.

A couple of years My Air machine wire braid hoses and chucks are pretty trashed beat up at bout 2 years and need to be replaced, So, I never had an issue with rust issues because they don't last that long.
