    taxes when selling

I sold one of my businesses a few years ago and found out that goodwill could not be written off. You can assign a value to equipment etc. that would encompass the goodwill. Then it can be written off. Your CPA would give you the best breakdown of your situation.

    Leasing equipment

For some operators the lease option may be the only way they can add a IBA or other large purchase. It can still lead to a increase in bottom line profits through added sales even though it may not be the maximum way to do it.

    Leasing equipment

The biggest advantage of leasing IMO is the lower up front cost. A typical IBA will cost 100K + with installation. Banks often want 50% down on this type of purchase. Most car wash operators do not have this kind of cash laying around. Leasing can aid many operators in getting the first IBA or...

    Leasing equipment

I have leased several IBA over the years, usually with a $1 buyout. A big advantage to a lease is that you will not have to come up with money up front. Local banks now usually require very large down payments on equipment purchases some as high as 50%. Some leasing companies will also let you...

    Auto auction

I watched the Barret-Jackson auction from Florida yesterday and they had several nice MB 500 Sls go for under 20K. The first day of the big auctions always offers the lowest prices and great buys. Do not need a dealers license only a bank letter of credit up to what ever amount you plan on spending.

    In-Bay and Vac Station Lights

Kevin, not sure by your post but I think you are trying to get from mogul bases to medium bases. If so then you can simply buy and adapter that will screw into the mogul base and convert it to a medium base bulb.

    My Rant

It's Monday: Went to Sams to get towels and parked between a landscape island and the cart storage so I don't get doored. When I come out a idiot has pllud in and hit my front bumper. His car was still butted up to my bumper. He comes out and I point it out and he says "Well there is not much...

    Newbie

I would first start in your area and see who the reputable dealers are. I am in a very cold climate with IBA. You will need good doors and radiant heat in the bay. I don't think you need in floor heat or to weep water with a properly insulated bay with radiant heat.

    Follow ups

I take all the industry trade publication and always see articles about the latest greatest car wash. New start ups are great and you see a lot of glitz in these articles. Over the years I see many of these come and go. I would like to see some trade publication do some follow up stories on the...

    Opinions???

I have several Ryko touchless units and have been very happy with them. The Pulse is a low volume unit that is not as fast as the regular Ryko overhead units. I would get the Ryko overhead unit that uses the wall sensors for width sizing. It is one of the fastest automatics and is pretty...

    KR foam brush assembly

Both ends of my foamy brush asssemblies are reusable. On the end that mounts to the foamy brush when the hose gets kinked and breaks the first time I add about a 1 foot long length of bigger rubber hose over the smaller hose and fitting to prevent further kinks in the hose. Inever have a problem...

    tiny black spots on car

When I get something like this I always let the customer see my car then I run it through the automatic while they watch. When it comes out clean that usually proves to them that it was not your car wash that left behind the problem. The black spots could also be rail dust if they park close to...
