    In-Bay and Vac Station Lights

Now that I have had my locations converted to new lighting for a few years I have a few observations about several lights that were installed. We used various fixtures from 42 watt CFL wall mounts to T8 conversion kits and T5 2 and 4 light water proof fixtures. We also installed some LED...

    Air Compressor Noise Mitigation

I have one location that I put a large muffler on the intake of the compressor and it helped some but by no means is it quiet. I think the best thing you can do is to run the air intake line outside of the equipment room. You can take a car muffler, like a glass pak, and weld a threaded ends on...

    Ryko foamers

As I recall the foamers are held on with some U shaped bolts. Loosen them and take off one endof the foamer. You can reach down into the foamer with a long pair of needle nose pliers to remove the scotchbrite material.

    CO2 safety

Randy, I bought a KIDDE CO monitor that plugs into the wall and has a battery backup. It has a digital display and will retain the highest reading it has sampled until you reset it. My reading on it was 123 after it sampled the air, anything over 100 is extreme. below 30 is considered normal...

My mistake, it is about carbon Monoxide not CO2, thanks for pointing this error out and making the correct assumption.

How Do You Test Dryers Strength? (cars still wet)

Another thing you might try is using a amp meter on each dryer motor to see if they are drawing close to the same amps. A high reading on one may indicate a worn motor. I always go through my IBA and look for the wax cycle to bead the water so I get a dry car.

    CO2 safety

I had a close call last weekend with CO2 poisoning. Long story short a exhaust pipe came off of one of the boilers in a position that was not easy to see. As the floor heat boiler was running all day it was filling the equipment room with CO2 ( a gas with no smell). After going home with a...

    Water Freezes?

I got to the wash around 8 am this morning with the temp. at a balmy -10 degrees F. I see a car pull into A SS bay as I am leaving to check another wash. About 20 minutes later I get a call telling me that he had a problem at the wash. He explained to me that after washing his car the water...

    New sump pumper

I got my ring o matic in 1994, it was a used model I bought from a car wash owner that had bought it in 1970. I have replaced the original motor with a Honda and replaced the door gasket twice. The second time was just 2 weeks ago with some belt material that bought locally for $60. I did...

    Adding a picture

I still wish that we could post photos they way most other forum sites do it. This forum is set up the same way as others but for some reason it will not post photos using the same process. You should not have to have an account somewhere else to post the photos. Much simpler to post from your...

New regulation in CA regarding reclaim

I know the WCA has been monitoring this for a while. They have reported on it in their newsletters. Contact the Western Car Wash Association for more information. Thhis is a good reason to belong to your regional association.

    Raypak floor heat boiler

I just had this same thing happen at one of my washes. What was happening is that the large circulating pump would get hot and it was thermally protected so that it would shut itself off until it cooled down. Then it would restart itself. When this happened the boiler over heat sensor would trip...

    Ryko Onboard dryer motor

In the past I have found loose wires for the dryer motors on some Ryko stuff. I would first check all the wire connections and tighten them up. They seem to work loose and then start arcing. Just tightening the wires up may cure your problem. Clean all the black off the wires first, after you...

    New Ryko FoamBrite Replacement option

I had a ryko Monarch that used the stringy nylon brushes. As I recall they spun around 90 rpm. Foam brite spins around 60 rpm if I recall. I did put slower gear boxes on my Monarch when I went to Neoglide. If you have a foam brite machine now you should not have to change gear boxes when you go...
