    Ultimate Polycarb Door Overhaul

You did not mention how your doors are counter balanced. Is it with weights or springs? What type of opener do you have, air or electric? Your doors should be balanced so you can move the door up and down easily when the opener is unhooked.

    flourescent ballast

Now would be a great time to get a T8 retrofit kit. It will replace your T12 8 foot bulbs with 4- 4 foot T8 bulbs. You will get more light at a lower cost. You keep the metal fixture that the T12s use.

    vinyl scrape

If it is just black plastic and not painted I would first ry to use a pink eraser on it. A pink eraser will generally remove stuff off of the plastic including wax that gets on it.

    New Lights are ordered!

The 42 watt CFLs I bought at home depot are lithonias but several companies make them like Hubbell, RAB etc. I am using RAB 42 watt CFLs at 3 other washes. T5 do produce more lumens per watt than a T8. The knock on T5s has been that they were more expensive for fixtures and bulbs. My most recent...

    New Lights are ordered!

Over the weekend I changed out one SS bay that had 2- 175 MH lights to the 4 light T5 HOs I got from kleenrite. Like Randy said the bay was like an operating room. I am going to go with 2 of the 2 light T5s in the remaining bays just to save on the wattage. I still should get plenty of light. In...

    Help, How would you respond?

I have both Wash Gear and Etowah valley credit card readers in my washes. Both have been a hit. With Wash gear I am getting about $500 per bay per month and around $350 per bay with etowah valley. I would add CC to my bays if I did not have them. Perhaps If Red dropped his preauthorization...

    Help, How would you respond?

I was just at the WCA show and they brought in a carwash industry expert on car wash valuation. In a nut shell a SS car wash in this market should be worth 5 times turn of the average gross yearly sales.

    truck bed liners

I bought the bed liners locally. The nice thing is that you roll them on and do not have to spray them on so no paint booth is needed and clean up is easy.

    truck bed liners

We installed our first truck bed liner yesterday using the Herculiner roll on system. Preperation was very simple using some scotch brite pads. We taped off the bed and applied 2 coats in one day. The Kit was $90 and I think we can charge between $200 to $250 for it installed. In this market...

New Lights for the Self Serve

I noticed on the T5 fixtures I just bought for $45 each that you can use any bulb from 32 watts up to 54 watts without changing the ballast. T5 bulbs are within $3 of a T* bulb now and will continue to close the gap in the future.

    induction lighting...converting my Scottsdale lights

I agree with everything said about induction lighting. My only concern is something I read on the Lithonia lighting website. They make induction lights but did not recomend them for environments with chemicals and they specifically mentioned car washes. I do not think there would be any problem...

    Ryko OHD down again

The new wall units are round. The older OHds wash a car about 30 seconds faster since they size the car much quicker than the new ones. I have 2 old style and 4 new style ones and I wish they all were the old style with wall mount ultrasonics.

You have not had a wall ultrasonic problem in 9 years and you say its down again? I think you are having good luck with the wall unltrasonics. I have had to replace a couple on my 2 OHDs in 7 years. The units like yours that use wall ultrasonics are better than the new style OHDs that measure...

    clogged foamers

The foamers contain a material similar to scotch brite pads. These eventually become clogged with extended use. The foamer itself is a large round canitster that contains the scothbrite material that the product passes through and gets mixed up with air to create the foam. I have taken apart the...

    Ryko Rocket blaster not working

The air solenoid should let the same psi exit as is entering when activated. I keep several of these air solenoids on hand and replace them first since they are pretty cheap. If you are getting air coming out of the solenoid it should be enough to open the water valve. The water valve is made by...
