    Chemical support

I think that after a few years in the business you should not need them unless perhaps you are an absentee owner. It's not rocket science. You can go high tech and buy a titration kit, or low tech and simply look at what type of show and cleaning a product gives you. Use a Sharpie to Mark...

Saving a few $$ with Zoro Tools

I ordered a shampoo machine little Giant Pump from Drill spot after an internet search. for lowest cost. Came in a Grainger box. Why does Grainger do this? They are 10 minutes from me. They would have made more money charging me what Drillspot charged instead of only getting the lesser...

Feedback & Complaints - How do you guys post contact info?

I think the $25.00 is a great idea. Likely 2-3 times what they paid and gets them back for (Hopefully) a better experience. I try to do the same. If it's a quality complaint I will give then coupons for 2 free washes. If they lose $ in a machine I will give a cash refund.

Not sure what "do this" is meant for. Brushj needs to be reverse hanging so the arc of the drop follows the direction of car travel. Normal top brushes fall toward the entrance or away from the back end of the car. Same issue with "reverse" wraps. The arc of the arm is moving away from the...

Had this for 30 years Nothing cleaned better. But it could also be a huge headache. The final straw was the taxis with large roof top ads. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uLocWkswP3U https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=03RtqH52QR8

I don't think we can give you an opinion without knowing what you are trying to target. Maybe neither will solve the issue. If it's front or back end bugs that take a lot of time and massaging perhaps neither will work. You may need to experiment. Try manually applying HP where the issue...

Buying a Car Wash / Phase 1 Environmental

A Phase one is a historical analysis of the property and neighboring properties to see if there might be an issue. Lenders typicaly require this. If there might be an issue then a phase 2 needs to be done. Who pays is a matter of negotiation. Existing owner will say I don't need or want one...

    Self-Serve Car Wash Security

Count me among those learning the hard lesson at my tunnel. Had spare Keys in what I thought was a secure lockup in what I thought was a good burglar alarm. Alarm was defeated. they waited an hour to make sure and then spent an hour getting in to most everything. They did not get in to...

    Top Brushes

I really don't know. It's thicker than spaghetti so I would guess about 1/4" Dan pretty mutch matched AVW OEM. Got darker Blue the second time around so if it gets a little darker it's not as noticeable as lighter stuff.

Kleen-Rite, what is the deal with these guys

That is why restaurants have menus. Been using KR Ultra concentrates for years. Not happy with all products. Use other vendors for Wheel Cleaner, Tire Shine , rain X and Drying agent. USe them for Triple foam low PH Soap, Triple Foam Polish Wax, Pre Soak, and Sealer wax. Through...

    Speaking of no prep......

Dio they make other Hodge equip as well? I knew Hodge to be a pioneer in wash equipment design and when I visited a Car Wash Express in Denver they told me some equipment was "Hodge" and that Mr. Hodge had some ownership interest in the washes.

FYI. Have an AVW foam top brush . Don't know who they get their from from. Had to replace foam every 75,000 cars. started to lose pieces. Thought it was a proprietary design so kept ordering from them. Out of frustration called Dan at Erie. He made me Foam. After triple the number of cars...

    Whats in your tunnel?

Not sure what you mean by "Adjusting the roller up" Traditional thinking is that a conveyor can have for example 7' roller spacing but high volume locations benefit from 3'6" spacing. This allows for more efficient spacing at the cost of having twice as many rollers. Calculations can be...

    Sonny's 901 Mitter issue

I have had it in operation 2 years and was told it was two years old with 100K cars when I bought the system. We all know how reliable that pitch is but after 25+ years as an operator, with 15+ years experience before that, seeing the condition of the equipment and cloth this appeared to be...

    Best Heat tape for trough!!!

I think this is a bad idea. Any pause in the operation during freezing temps will cause lines to freeze and rupture.

    Sonny's 901 Mitter issue

Sonny's called. From Photos they say unit is 10+ years old. Anyway, in a vein similar to my post they are going to fabricate and send me a plate that will go below the Motor and gear box spanning the breach so that the motor and gear box will be lifted off the frame, the plate inserted under...

    Whats in your tunnel?

Since I am in Chicago and conditions vary widely by locale i really can't comment on your conditions. An anomaly here is that when cars look the worst, covered in road salt absent extreme cold they are easiest to clean since salt is water soluble and acts as a solvent for other dirt. This is...

    Whats in your tunnel?

My post 10 has video of my old setup at my shortest tunnel which had the least equipment although the slant was a workhorse. Aside from the occasional long cooked on bird Poop, tree sap or bugs the cars came out really clean. My other locations with cloth had more equipment or needed more...
