Ist. thing I would check is to make sure the lovejoy coupling is in line with the drive wheel, if it can adjusted by using shims under gearbox, this can cause the load on gearbox and will cause the gantry to try to jump rails.

You can save yourself a lot of work and time by going ahead and replacing all three belts with matched sets now,you can put dressing on and tighten them now but the same problem will reappear soon.

If you are happy with the performance of the WW I would spend my money on rebuilding them, I don't know of another touchfree that will perform any better than a WW in good shape. Most parts are interchangeable and they are not that hard to rebuild. Just my opinion.
