Knocked a Mirror off a Bentley

In Indiana, failure to adjust a claim unreasonably is bad faith and subjects an insurer to increased damages and liability. I cannot imagine an insurance company refusing to pay unless a court tells them they have to if the facts are obvious that it was your fault.

    Accident at carwash and insurance

Hmm, saving a hundred or two $$$ which it would cost to get the opinion of a professional and instead risking thousands. Would that be something like not washing the salt off your vehicle and hoping it doesn't eventually rust it?

    Building weep water reclaim system

Uh, let's think about this. How big is your pit? I think that most of the time when your lines are weeping that you will not be using water nearly fast enough to keep the pit from overfilling or draining as it currently does. I can tell you that 2 SS's would not come close to using even 1/2...

    Bay Ceiling Light Fixtures

Actually, my lights were the 250w MH wallpacks that Kleenrite sells. I have several of them used. KR charges like $250 each. You can have my used ones for $50 each, pickup-only, they are heavy. I threw the worn out ones away. I have 15 perfectly good MH wallpacks available.

    Bay Ceiling Light Fixtures

I used the 4' fixtures. That way, I could just replace the MH fixtures and put one in place of each fixture. The other advantage I found was that I could put 2 in each bay on occupancy sensors which keeps them turned off when not in use. My bays look just as bright from the road but not as...

    Bay Ceiling Light Fixtures

Gabriel, Sorry, my internet has been down. I recently replaced 32 scottsdale MH lights in my wash too. Each SS bay had 4 lights and each Auto had 6. I replaced each one with a vapor tight T5HO fixture. I actually got 34 fixtures with bulbs and all upgrades for $4000. I did the replacing...

    Car Wash Appraisal

If your wash appraised over $600k 4 years ago and has since had more than 100% increase in gross sales, I can't imagine that the value hasn't increased significantly even with the downturn in appraisals. I would encourage my appraiser or lender to look at the loan from a ROI analysis. I...

    Car Wash Appraisal

How has your gross or net income changed since 2007? What kind of income was your previous appraisal based on? I would bet that a current bank appraisal would put your car wash around $450k to $500k based on the overall status of the car wash industry.

    Tire damage

Yeah, I was about to say something. My nozzles are exposed on my undercarriage. People drive over them sometimes. Its kind of like driving over gravel. I can't imagine a car that would lose a tire driving over a piece of gravel. I have never had an issue with that. If it was somewhere else...

Hamilton ACW not reading credit cards

Oh yeah. I forgot about my handheld. I haven't used it for so long! I used to use that to diagnose all the time, especially when I had dial up credit cards.

Hamilton ACW not reading credit cards

It will say that when there is no answer through telephone or internet too. After mine times out for any reason, it says card unreadable. I had ones that dialed up directly and would get that error after there was no answer or no dial tone. I now have ones that if there is no internet, I get...

    Bay Ceiling Light Fixtures

I got mine from Larry Haage at www.smartlightingsolutions.com I have no interest in his business but he has been an excellent source. I am very happy with his product and his customer service. For car washes, he makes sure that the fixtures have car wash amenities. I have heard that people...

    Weepmiser vs. Polar Freeze Guard

Why are you weeping hot water??? Granted, I have a weepmiser, but I don't heat my weep water. Is heating your weep water even recommended? Doesn't hot water actually freeze faster than cold in many circumstances? (Yes, it does, but probably not while running).

Insurance company and actual cash value

Depending on the state, they will have to pay replacement cost if you actually replace it, especially since their insured is the party at fault. If you are just going to patch up the island, then 80% isn't bad. If you are going to replace it, then submit a bill to them for actual replacement...

Metal halide to CFL conversion chart?

Sorry, I was out of town. Anyway, changing the wallpacks to 4' T5HO's took 1 hour each. Granted, a few of them took more than an hour but a few of them took less. They mount on the wall with two screws so it is an easy process. Really, I can't say enough about how happy I am.

    Foam Brush Foamer Cartridge Replacement

Yeah, what he said about the T. I have been in the car wash business for 4 years and had no idea that there was such a thing as a foamer. All of my foaming brushes are really foamy from just a T and air.

    security system options

My cell chip was put into my alarm control box by the installer. I pay $19.95/month including monitoring with fire too. Not bad. But the company I am using is small and local.
