    Weather Insurance

My head hurts just thinking about this. In Chiberia you could have rain in some spots and dry weather a few blocks away. "Lake effect" is a popular term. I could see all sorts of arguments about when and where it rained.

How do you value your carwash?

Still confused. Are you saying your labor is worthless so it does not affect the rate of eturn? The point I am trying to make is ROI on a passive investment is far different than ROI where you have to put in your own energy, sweat and blood.

    I just kicked the bucket!

I think a second set of wraps would make a lot of difference. Not familar with Hanna Wrap efficiency and it may have changed over time. 2 sets of AVW or Sonny's do the job for me.

    How many feet between vacuums?

I think the type of setup needs to be taken into account. Tommy has a single stanchion with dual hoses, one for each side of the car and their sample states 14' centers. That setup has it equaly likely that the customer will fully open and vac from doors on both sides. At my locations the...

    Car Jumps Track - Thoughts

Neither. Bottom portion of sign is changable letter board backlit with flourescents. He had panels open and was working on Flourescents. I do not know what happened. Not sure why my company paid other than a sympatetic plaintiff. Plaintiff's attorney was trying theoruies like I had done...

    Car Jumps Track - Thoughts

You don't know ridiculous. Sign company working on my sign, helper gets electrocuted. I attempt CPR. He Dies. My ins pays 10s of Thousands. Customer loses control of car exiting tunnel. Toyota - before all the Toyoat UI issues hit the news. Hits coca cola delivery person. 2 ICA people...

    How many feet between vacuums?

10 feet will accomodate most cars with the doors open comfortably but not fully. One way to get a little more in the sack is to stagger the Vacs somewhat so the hose at one side is a couple of feet ahead or behind the one at the other side. that way the cars are staggered and opened doors don't...

Here we go again. More frigid weather in the NE.

Did not "Close" Jan 6-7. Will not close now. Asked my mgr about headache of resolving freeze issues vs. removing and reinstalling 16 Hoses. Since it's headache I left it to him He said he'd rather resolve freeze issues than remove and replace 16 Hoses. I think one poly line had to be...

    Updating old wash (credit/debit)

It doesn't work for the 8 bay because except for rare occasions there is no need to accesss each collection point daily. Depending on volume it may be done weekly or Bi weekly with the same labor for each collection point. Collecting weekly from all points takes little more time than collecting...

    Updating old wash (credit/debit)

Actualy no. I was using my 8 Bay SS as a yardstick. 8 Bays = 8 Bill acceptors, 4 Vaults, 3 Changers, 8 Vacs, 6 vendors. Since I recycle quarters I don't count them except for spot audit. If I had to break it down (Assuming no thawing) I would say 25 minutes to pull all quarters from 18...

    Updating old wash (credit/debit)

Simplistic examples: $2,000 in CC charges with all in fees of 5% = $100 Adjust up or down if you think the 5% is off. Gather, Sort, count, make deposit slip, package, take to bank, wait for receipt,= 2 hours? Again adjust 2 hours up or down. But using this example did it cost $100 in labor?

    Car Jumps Track - Thoughts

Sit thru EE. Car Jumps tracks for no apparent reason. Video does not show it being in drive or brakes applied. Rearr wheel push, car jumps to right after skipping one roller. Cannot see if driver had hands on wheel. 10's of thousands washed before and 1000's since, No issues. Sadly did...

How cold is cold when not to open the wash?

FYI , due to similar issues in times gone buy, whether extreme cold or a failed heater Tunnel closing procedures for forcast of 20 degrees or less includes shutting water off at the main incoming line and opening valves at the far end. Even if you get a freeze at some low point at least there...
