Why are customers being so cheap

La La La; Whatever! Saw a guy today 'dry humping' the trunk of a black Accord with the (none too foamy) brush. Probably doing a little pre-scratching while waiting not so patiently for his wife to get tokens. I thought about saying something, but I was busy so I kept a walkin'!

    New Policy Needed for 55's!!

I sell them on CL, too. It is one way to recycle them, I guess. Maybe the best way there is unless you have a local soap supplier.

    New Policy Needed for 55's!!

That's not very specific. Do you mean trucking them back and rinsing them out isn't cost-effective?

    New Policy Needed for 55's!!

It seems fairly ridiculous that there is no 'standard protocol' regarding soap companies accepting our used 55 gallon drums for credit and re-use. It seems that there is enough expense in materials and energy consumed in their manufacture to warrant a standard return policy on these barrels...

    Stand alone SS dryer

One thing that does sell are the blue sham towels for drying that are sold in a vending machine. Less investment and immediate profit.

    Nrcc

Anyone planning to go to Atlantic City 10/3-10/5 for the Northeast Regional Carwash Convention? My Dad said rooms at the Taj Mahal are $55/night.

    Bold, Cheesy Moves!!!

Jonathan Kaplan is the creative entrepreneur behind the Flip Video Camera, a brilliant, if short-lived invention of his own design. Flip is now discontinued, but in true entrepreneur fashion, he is going after his next big idea; a hig-tech grilled cheese restaurant franchise. Read about it...

How To Make a Temporary High Pressure Hose Patch in Ten Minutes for $2

You could also stock a full can and empty it prior to the repair.:) Seriously, though; good tip. Thanks!!!

Why are customers being so cheap

Well, they will put money in at some point when using the bay. What is better if no one is waiting; getting $2 or getting $0? I say $2. I understand the bag lunch and taxicab analogies, but to me it is not that cut and dried. It's money I want and it's money I get. If someone's being an...

Why are customers being so cheap

I am from the school of thought that says:'some money is better than no money'. Rather than scold bucket washers, I tolerate them unless it looks like a problem (someone waiting etc). You didn't say how many bays you have. With ample bays, I would tolerate the bucket crowd. I always give out...

    Tornador Update

The Tornador is a 'must have' tool in my detail shop. They were giving me trouble, though. The product wouldn't pull thru the gun/nozzle, despite cleaning and soaking the gun. However, I was missing something; there is a weighted ball at the end of the pickup tube. Apparently there is a...

    Synthetic Chamois

Because we clay bar the wax & polish jobs and the grit the clay takes off is on the car and drying removes it so the wax job turns out far better than if we clayed then let the car iar dry.

    Synthetic Chamois

When I built my new detail shop I switched to terry towels to dry all the cars. Now, years later, I am switching back to synthetic chamois for drying details. The chamois need less washing and zero drying, thus saving money and time.

    New Sexi Freshners

Assume they were from Kleenrite but not 100% sure. I agree that the 70's girls were not the hit I'd hoped for, sales-wise. Bet the updated 90's girls sell better!

    New Sexi Freshners

A good carwash buddy sent me a picture of the new Sexi Air Freshners. BRAVO for taking the models from the 90's instead of 70's. Not saying there's anything wrong with 70's culture. FINALLY!:)

    Chemical 2 Clean Front-Load Washer?

Hi Guys. I bought a front load washer for efficiency. The scuzz is building up pretty good on the door gasket and I am sure in other places I can't see. What do you use to de-scuzz your front loader washer that washes all the carwash/detail towels, rags and applicators? Thanks!

    Building

I have a steel Kirby building with a 4' foundation wall. I like it just fine. However, I would install FRP or similar liner panel on interior walls and ceilings, instead of the ribbed steel. Metal has been called undesirable by some, but in reality, it has held up with only minimal need for...

    Reject Water

I use it for HP pass on my IBA. I have a 250 gal. tote that collects it then I run a separate float and little giant pump to feed my IBA's CAT 3535. I adjust my reject float to work in conjunction with my fresh water float, so I get a mix when needed.

    Head light restore/Windshield fix

I sand headlights with 1000 grit wetordry and polish with heavy cut compound, a 3" wool cutting pad on an air polisher, then finish by burnishing wax in with a 3" foam pad on the air polisher.

    New to business, needing advice

It is unwise to buy any business without seeing the business tax returns for the last 3 years. You can't just try and figure it out from a water bill. No tax returns= no sale.
