Bill acceptance in the bay, was it a game changer?

And on top that, many of the gas stations in my area, give a discount for using cash.

    Why Cryptopay chose Worldpay

The problem with Worldpay for our car washes was not the fees; we went with Worldpay because their fees are less than Washgear's. The problem is Worldpay's Customer service. It's a classic case of the run-around. Look at all the posts here on this forum about trying to set up gift cards. I do...

    What’s next? (Wash technology)

I'm going to take a shot in the dark here. I'm thinking an intercom system that would tell the customer when they have missed a spot, explains how to properly wash vehicles and can sell the different bells and whistles. On the humor side, a bucket destroying robot.

    No Snow, Slow

Our washes are in the same boat. Our winters have turned into a dead zone in Maryland. Little to no snow. And when it does snow, we get rain shortly thereafter. We can easily lose a week when snow is in the forecast followed by rain. Winter used to be the big money season. No longer. Pollen has...

Dencar Screen Consistently Freezing Up- 8 months old- Anyone Else

It is utterly ridiculous how these companies operate.

Fill in the blank: If I had a nickel for every time a customer this, I'd be rich!

Say, "I guess I'd better put my windows up." They act like it's the first time anyone in human history ever said that joke to a car wash attendant.

    Customer Ebb and Flow

As someone who has been in the family car wash business since 2001, I have found that predicting what business performance is going to be is difficult. Before the pandemic, I could look at the forecast and know how business was going to go if the forecast held up. Nowadays? I cannot. To me...

    Car washing vs Football

We have not had that issue on our Saturdays. I'm in Maryland, and we do not have a strong football team located in the state. Now the NFL is different when the Ravens are playing.

Not that it matters now, but the Monster Soap Special had been extended through July 14th.

    Going Cashless?

I do not look at gas stations and car washes as being an apples to apples comparison. Gasoline is a higher ticket item than a car wash. Also, there are credit cards that give higher rewards for gas purchases. I don't believe there are any credit cards that reward car wash use.

    Are memberships for me?

Besides price points: 1. What system you use. 2. Being able to sell memberships. You can have the greatest car wash and membership program in the world, but it won't mean a thing if you can't sell it. 3. Customer relations

    Closing on Sunday

But it goes back to Earl's point about the restaurant industry being different than the car wash industry. Let's look at the weather, too. It snows on a Thursday, and things are dried out by Sunday. People want to get the salt off right away. Another wrinkle, too, are memberships. I don't...

    Closing on Sunday

Count me in as one of those who is in the "You do you" camp. Even if we (my father and I) wanted to close on Sundays, there is no way we could afford it. We'd be leaving a lot of money on the table. Plus, with the way weather is timed, Sunday might be a salty or pollen day.

Replacing "STOP" with "PAUSE" on Self Serve Decal?

I don't believe anybody's customers would be smart enough to read past STOP.

    Self service car wash equipment

I myself am happy with Ginsan. For credit card processing, we use Cryptopay. Personally, I would recommend having an in-bay automatic.

    Touchless or Friction?

I would go with touch-free. You have three choices when it comes to your competition 1. Be less than (should never be taken) 2. Be better than 3. Be different then With the competition, I feel #3 is the way to go.

Need all new equipment, everything !! Bought a closed down car wash in Pasadena, Texas

It's tough to get a good return on investment from buying just a self-service wash. The items are low ticket, and many people over the years have migrated to getting a machine to do all the washing. It's not by accident that few pure self-services are being built these days. In fact, it's rare...

Whats the difference between iba, & express

No, express car washes do have attendants. Someone has to load the vehicles onto the conveyor. I do know of a place that has an unattended conveyor tunnel (not of the express variety), and I have no idea how he can do that without confused customers and lots of property damage. With regard to...

    Memberships/Customer Information

What Ed wrote applies to us. As for getting their information, we have forms they fill out. If someone does not want to leave contact information, we do not force the issue. We use the info to contact them if their payment does not go through. That is what we do with our IBA touch-frees. We...
