    Credit card processing

I recommend going to Cardfellow.com . I have no association with them, except that they found me a rate lower than anything I could find myself. Basically, they solicit offers for you....and then they charge the successful bidder (for your account) a small fee. Their service won't cost you...

    ACW4 Issue

Parker tells me that (with almost 100% certainty)....that it's NOT the Token acceptor. The acceptor is correctly discriminating, and therefore sending a "pulse". The Hamilton controller is certainly "seeing" the pulse, but NOT giving the proper credit. A call to Hamilton service....tells me...

    ACW4 Issue

Parker Slugbuster for BOTH the quarter and Token acceptor. I assume you meant to suspect the Token acceptor and not the coin acceptor.....right?

    ACW4 Issue

We use BOTH paper TokenNotes as well as Brass Tokens. One of my ACW4's is intermittently giving a $0.25 credit for a $9 brass token (inserted in the Token slot). What could cause the token credit to give only $0.25 instead of the full token value?

    Softener Brine Tank Issue?

Nope...use the good stuff. I'm going to clean the tank in the next week....and I'll let you know what I find.

    Softener Brine Tank Issue?

    Softener Brine Tank Issue?

Our water is checked for hardness at the start of every day. Typically, we can run 13,000 gallons before the hardness starts edging up. Recently, we've been starting to get hard water at 8,000 gallons....well before the calculated regeneration point. It's been a while since we cleaned the...

Cat Pump cup replacement keeps failing???

If you mean the thimble-sized plastic inserter...yes....Thanks.

    Photo cell for bay lights

My old photocell system ran a lighting contactor. I simply connected the astronomic timer to run the lighting contactor (in place of the photocell).

Cat Pump cup replacement keeps failing???

I just off of the phone with Cat Pumps Tech support. It turns out that there are 2 DIFFERENT piston types....Machined Pistons, or Bac-Cup Pistons. I was trying to use Bac-Cup "Cups" on Machined Pistons. To use Bac-cup cups on a machine, the machined pistons need to be replaced with Bac-cup...

Cat Pump cup replacement keeps failing???

The 623 has valves in the head. Doesn't the head washout problem exist in plunger style pumps (which the 623 isn't)?

Cat Pump cup replacement keeps failing???

BTW....when this pump first starts up, it takes about 5 seconds for the pressure to build up. This makes me wonder if there's an inlet issue which makes the cup "run dry"....and that's what is causing it to unseat.

Cat Pump cup replacement keeps failing???

I have recently replaced the cups on a Cat Pumps 623. Then the pump would run fine for 2-3 days.....smooth and good pressure. After several days, the pump loses pressure....and then runs very rough. Every time, a cup has become dislodged from the cup holder. What could be going on? This has...

    Photo cell for bay lights

When my local utility offered a substantial rebate to install an Astronomic timer.....I did. They caught me on a technicality and I didn't get a nickel rebated. My point? It still was worth EVERY PENNY. I haven't messed with adjusting/replacing photocells. It's been hands off for years...

Anyone taking advantage of the coin shortage to raise prices?

My bank told me that they will only provide 1 ROLL if asked. I was told that they still have my deposit from last month "saved, just in case" in the back room. It was a bag with roughly $1k in quarters (mostly dry.....but that's another story for another thread....).

    Air compressor

The best setups use a motor turning at 1750 rpm running a pump in the 7-800 rpm range. The cheapos have the 3500 rpm motors turning the pump at warp 8 (1100rpm+). My (long departed) big box store air compressor sounded (almost) like a sewing machine. It whirred. Not so my present setup. More...

    Air compressor

A 60 gallon (or 80...for that matter) tank...is just that...a tank. Basically, an "air compressor" is a tank, motor and pump. I went on eBay, and got a decent 5hp motor for less than $200. I found a lightly used Champion R15 pump for $650. This pump is bulletproof. Bolted it onto my old 80...

How to update MEI / MARS bill acceptor firmware?

I've got a Shurvend that I bought 7 years ago. The Mars setup (recycler, coin mech, and validator)....is starting to get fussy. Recommendation? Replace with new? Send it for overhaul? I can do a LOT of board level repairs. Is it that hard to replace the caps? The Sensit Board (AMS...

    Mercury relay....failure mode?

My setup has a whisker switch, which is activated every time the trolley passes by. When this whisker switch fails, the trolley just keeps going around and around....basically until it triggers a "timeout" protection circuit. The PLC is in an "activated" state, and the bay signs are lit. This...

    Mercury relay....failure mode?

I agree with both of you. I replaced the PLC output module with a spare. I'll see what happens. I replace the relays on these output modules every now and then. It's a PCB board level repair. Not difficult if you know how to desolder etc. $5 dollar relay, and 20 minutes....vs. new output...
