Air logic or Air shammee

In 2018, I went with Diskin's Air Shammee II, that has 1 - 4.5HP motor, mounted on my 5 bay walls. Our dryers get a lot of use. $10k investment was paid off in 3 months (per hour meters). Over the past 4 years we have improved their system as we found flaws... It might be over-kill but it's eliminated complaints from customers and increased customer satisfaction!
  • Added SS elbow (from Mosmatic) because hose clamp was cutting into the hose.
  • Added plastic vacuum cuffs to the elbow with self-tapping screws to help the hose stay on the boom elbow
  • Upgraded the hose clamps on the hoses. The original ones weren't strong enough to tighten around plastic corrugated dryer hose.
  • Added in-line swivel (Mosmatic)on the boom plate because short hose would kink when the boom was used.
  • Replaced their nozzle with Air Logics nozzle. Diskin's nozzle has an inner baffle that restricts the air flow & the back pressure caused a lot of problems (holes in hoses, hoses blowing off the end of the boom, rivets falling out of the nozzle). Also, customers didn't like holding the trigger while using.
  • Upgraded their sign with liability risk due to higher air speed.
  • Remounted the boom bracket through the concrete bay wall using 10" bolts, to support the added weight and welded the boom sections together.
  • Added 3' boom extension (from Mosmatic) to reduce stress on the dryer hose & better reach over customers vehicle.
  • Upgraded wand holder

I can view them without signing into my account so you should be good. We used to use a screw to secure the hose to the cuffs (on vacs) but they would tear the hose (over time). We now use plumbers glue around the hose that is to fit into the cuff or swivel. Cleaner look. Only negative is that we keep extra cuffs and hose swivels since we just discard the cuff if there is an issue. Customers still find ways to do crazy things with vac hoses. We also glue the claws to the swivels so prevent them from walking. No idea why someone would take a $3 vac nozzle. Thx for posting the pics.

Thanks for your help Roz! Fortunately we haven't had too many vacuum claws disappear. But I'll remember your idea to use plumbers glue if we do!! :)

If you aren't posting them from your phone, open them with Paint, reduce the size to about 30% and save.

Mine disappear like crazy, mostly because people want to vacuum bigger trash like leaves out of their cowl so they just pull them off, or they get run over and crushed or split. They take the claw off and just throw it away.

I use air logic at all my washes, great product and massive air flow at the gun. I prefer their guns over the trigger system of air shammee, but honestly either way, you can’t go wrong. You’ll see a very nice increase in sales either way. Customers love the drying systems. One thing to consider is noise though. These things are loud. If your in a residential area, you’ll likely get complaints from neighbors especially for the late night users. I’d say you’d want to attic mount instead of bay mount if this is the case.

I'm not Kimberly, but I can comment on the round brushes. I had a friend tell me about a wash he used while vacationing that had round brushes. He told me he liked them a lot better, especially on the wheels. I changed one wash to them to see how customers felt about them. Most liked them better and a few were indifferent. I don't think I had anyone that didn't like them. I ended up changing all of my washes and never looked back. All of the major suppliers carry them.

I appreciate your compliment! :) We used to use the Universal rectangle hogs-hair brushes, but I'm always looking for ways to differentiate myself from other SS car washes. We experimented 17 years ago, and added them to a few SS bays. Customer feedback said they preferred the round brushes as they fit better in the wheel wells and smaller contours on cars. I purchase them from Kleen-Rite (Item #FORNDH). I prefer the Universal brand as the bumpers are made of rubber, and last longer than Erie's brittle plastic bumper.
 
Late to the party, but attic mounting is definitely the better way to go. Air will warmer and dryer - both pluses for a better customer experience.

Depends on the dryer brand & model you buy, and width of your bays. If it's an Air Logic or older Air Shamee with 3 motors, you'll be getting on the roof more to replace the motors. I purchased the Air Shammee II with single 4.5 hp motor & very happy we mounted on the bay wall.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I believe air pressure will decrease with hose length, and mounting the intake in the attic versus the bay will only reduce the pressure at the nozzle. Depending on bay height, location the the attic, etc., you could be adding (or saving) quite a distance according to where you install the intake.
 
I was thinking a potential con to installing in the bay is more stuff to clean that is attached to the walls? I have PVC and I get built up scum all the way to and including the ceiling and cleaning around wand holders, brushes, and bay timers is a PITA and this will be another item to clean and clean around?

I was concerned about cleaning too. We mounted the motors & covers as HIGH as we could to clear the other booms. My bays are 15' wide and 9' high. The covers stay remarkably clean. I remove the covers 1x year to clean them & check the motors.
