Mike, I don't know. The DVRs have an alarm feature, but I never used it. Even though I have 16 cameras out, there are only 4 alarm outs. Its a relay, so you could try it.
I only save stuff if something happens. As I said. Some don't care whether it's USB only or DVD and USB capable.so the costco ones donts have cd burner the one i was quoted for didnt have one too he said save it on usb card
I have a couple of these. Work well. The cameras it comes with do not have a mounting that s as easily adjustable as some others. This just came up on Costco.com today. I think I am going to upgrade one of my systems. Add a couple new cameras and reuse some of the old ones...

I thought about this 5 years ago but then I thankfully decided not to do it. I have both: alarm system and camera system and I intend to keep it that way. I believe it is too unreliable. To trigger an alarm you firstly rely on the camera, the illumination at the time, the adjustments after a windy day and in case of a pc based system: on Microsoft, on the DVR software, on the Internet and then on yourself receiving the alarm.Bill & others,
Do you think that process would be reliable enough to also use to trigger as an actual alarm to replace dedicated motion detectors. It seems like a main alarm control such as a PLC that was programmable so it could be programmed to require more than one trigger would prevent any false alarms. My Kalatel DVRs have 16 alarm contact outputs on the rear that we have been tempted to use as a replacement for infrared &/or ultrasound motion detectors.

I thought all of us had signs posted prominently in all our pertinent places within our facilities that read "Audio is Recorded for Quality Control"Keep in mind though that recording audio without their knowledge or consent is illegal.
$16,000 is about right for a Commercial 15 camera system. The key word is “Commercial” I have to laugh at some of the car wash operators with a quarter mentality who don’t fully understand the difference between “Commercial” and “Residential”. The Costco system is a wonderful system if you’re looking for a play thing. I’ve got a Costco system installed at my beach house and it works OK.i got a quote the other day he quote me for 15 camaras unit for $16.000
that is very expensive
In Illinois there is a statute that says it is illegal ---period. Statute is currently being litigated with the appeal decision pending.Keep in mind though that recording audio without their knowledge or consent is illegal.
Is that "Quarter as opposed to "Dollar Coin"I have to laugh at some of the car wash operators with a quarter mentality who don’t fully understand the difference between “Commercial” and “Residential”.
