    Weather

Another alternative to the more expensive Automatic Transfer Switching Generators and electric panel switches.... I heat with a Digital Controlled Coal Furnace that burns Anthracite Rice Coal. It keeps my house within 1° thermostat set point as it is infinetly variable. I have an Aims Power...

A Cold freeze coming Windsheild washer fluid

Thomas, if you have a weep system, it would be much easier to rig up a pump and use the weep system to winterize your hp hoses. You will use at lot less wf. I did 4 bays tonight and used about 1.5 gallons.

    Backup heat

My experience with the ceramic style heater: the thermostat control ones are problematic. I had one at home for backup and it never worked right. I switched it out with a 3 burner manual one and it works great! It's probably 10 years old. The two burner manual one at the cw is over 5 years old...

    Backup heat

The Mr Heater also comes in a three burner. If you don't have wall space, it comes with feet. Just put it on the floor and run a flexible hose to it.

    Backup heat

I have the Mr Heater twin ceramic wall mount ng heater. When temps are below freezing I turn one burner on. When temps get below 15 deg, I turn both burners on. No power required. I've never had a power failure to where it was needed, but am positive it would keep the ER from freezing. Another...

A Cold freeze coming Windsheild washer fluid

I use -20° Washer Fluid straight. No mixing. Its about $2.00 a gallon here when I catch it on sale. No dye needed, its blue and very noticable when it comes out the HP wand...I use a clear plastic measuring cup to make it easier to see when it comes out the nozzles. It takes about a gallon to do...

A Cold freeze coming Windsheild washer fluid

The weatherman is predicting lows down to about zero and highs 10-15° for next Friday, Saturday, and Sunday for our area...Glad I took the time to make shut-downs easier! Doing the math, you can save about 250 gallons of weep water (20oz per minute) a day per hose when it gets down this...

A Cold freeze coming Windsheild washer fluid

If you don't have a "Fancy" blowdown system, I kinda like the idea of putting washer fluid in the gravity tank and fill the HP lines using the HP pump. One thing for all to consider, however you fill the HP lines with washer fluid....If you have a dripping HP wand, it doesn't take long to fill...

    Weep system

I have the Mark VII pump stand....The original weep system used seperate shut off solenoids on the weep for each bay when PS was selected....Since I moved PS to a foam gun, the shutoff solenoids were no longer needed....They were problematic to say the least...So I designed a more simple...

    swivel repair

Randy, I've repaired them several times. Seems to hold up ok for me. I take them out of service as soon as they start to drip. Usually the nylon backup washer is gone. I also force some grease in the bearing during the rebuild.

    Polar Freeze Guard system

Shouldn't be hard to test the system/solenoids manually. Assuming the solenoids are 24v, there should be a transformer in the panel. Find the "Positive" side of the transformer and jump it to the "Positive" side of each solenoid. Follow the color coding of the wiring and test with a volt meter...

    Low pressure check valves

Or.... you can move all LP from the high pressure gun and put them on a foam gun? No c/v"s needed. I took cantbreak80's advice years ago and run PS and TF on a foam gun. Never an issue! It will make your life so much easier once you get your customers trained!

    Triple Foam Setup

I bought an adjustable stop light sequencer off Ebay for backup to my current system. I need to check how the sequences start. I have the same issue with Yellow not getting used as much. But it's not a show stopper. My TF gets used a lot.

    Electric cars

Don't forget California warned all EV owners to NOT charge their cars over Labor Day weekend to minimize rolling blackouts....EV's consist of only 1% of the cars on the road in that state and charging these cars could cause Blackouts?! Seriously? They are saying by 2035 they will ban the sale...

Need help sizing a circulator pump for Tankless Heater/Storage Tank setup.

Not quite sure about the first question, I don't have two heaters in series. When it comes to pump physics, when you put pumps in series, pressure doubles, triples, etc but flow stays the same. When you put pumps in parallel, pressure stays the same but output volume increases. The Takagi's do...

Need help sizing a circulator pump for Tankless Heater/Storage Tank setup.

Takagi won't be of help either. I have the same demand heater for my floor heat. I Tried calling them for the same thing and their advice was way off. In order to get the 10gpm flow through that heater, you need 100psi. 40 psi gets you about 6.6gpm. Look at the flow chart in the instructions to...

    Do You Post Political Signs?

I started to once....But then it quickly turned into a Sh$t Show...Everybody and their brother wanted to put up "Their" sign...I got comments like "Well You Let Him put up His Sign". That lasted about 2 days and no more signs....Not even "Yard Sale" signs with an arrow pointing down the...

    Tip size for more soap

Another variable is how much diluted soap from the hydrominder is being drawn/injected into the HP pump. I like 10oz a minute flow into the pump regulated with a flow meter. Increasing to 15oz a minute would make a huge difference with the same tip in the hydrominder. Understanding all the...
