    Sonny’s Services Of Texas

I've dealt with Scotch Plaid since 1993. They were so great back then. They started to decline years before Sonny's took over, but it's gotten even worse since. The biggest issues were and still are with billing, bookkeeping, getting orders processed and receiving confirmations, and some...

    Spot Free Pressure

Imagine the compliments you'd get if you ran it at 250, or even 450. It doesn't, unless you're counting the cost of replacing your membranes every year. If you ran them "as recommended" they should last five to ten years.

    Spot Free Pressure

I don't have customers on cloudy days, I have freeloaders leaving car parts and empty oil containers. And I mentioned in the other thread that the roof is high and open so there's plenty of light no matter how overcast it is. One, that's 190 psi, and two, it's on the production side. It's...

    Spot Free Pressure

150 psi for SS bays sucks. When you're charging a premium for time, give a premium product.

    Spot Free Pressure

I've operated a wash that ran 450 PSI on the spot free with a Cat 390 pump. It does use a lot of water but customers love it. If you're reusing the RO reject it's cheaper than running rinse. I'm now running 250 PSI with a Procon on a 3/4 HP motor which costs about $450, about half that of a...

Valuing a nearly abandoned SS site

The presoak is very high pH, but it hasn't eaten through any of the brass parts. If it does, I'll rebuild them with stainless.

Valuing a nearly abandoned SS site

I use Scotch Plaid, but I blend two products for tire cleaner, presoak, and foam brush that give a better result at a lower cost. I could do the same thing with Simoniz products, but I get what I use at cost.

    Spot free solenoid

The MOPD is the maximum pressure at which it can open. The maximum pressure is what the body is designed to tolerate. Expensive but a really good solenoid...

Valuing a nearly abandoned SS site

I actually increased my gross by about 300% and did so by keeping it clean, checking everything every day, and using good soaps and being generous with them. Years ago I improved a wash by 1100% by doing the same thing.

Then you're going to pay more when realistically you shouldn't. Because my net has come up about twice that much without raising prices.

Valuing a nearly abandoned SS site

All the parts and chemicals I use have gone up about 20% in the last two years. Because it's not an operating business. If someone were to buy the property to bulldoze it and build something else, they'd most likely make an even lower offer.

    Better tunnel trench cleaning alternative?

That sounds like a lot. I paid 32¢/gallon last time. Is Safety Kleen a general waste company or do they specialize in car washes? I know that if I call Roto Rooter I can get the same service but it costs three times as much.

    Sunrise / Sunset

Money and lifespan of the lights themselves, as well as people loitering to use the lights in bad weather. If I don't run off the loiterers, it gets worse and worse. During the last extended rain I had people setting up tents in the bays. I get it all the time, and the lights encourage it...

    doyle vacuum remote/programmer picture

It's an IDX timer. There is a controller to set the time and time per coin. The controller is pretty expensive and might not even be available. https://www.kleen-ritecorp.com/p-62013-idx-rc800-display-timer-programmer-for-all-bt-and-gt-timers.aspx If you happen to be in the central Texas...

    Sunrise / Sunset

I have always used the good ones. I don't want the lights on all day if it's raining. If you set an astronomic timer to come on 20 minutes before sunset, the lights will always come on and light the bays when you need them lit, and you won't be lighting bays in bad weather to encourage mobile...

    Sunrise / Sunset

I've struggled with photocells at car washes and have never found a unit/setting that works the way it should. It will either come on too late and the bays will be dark for 20 minutes at sunset of the lights won't go off or will come on if it's overcast. I won't ever use anything but an...

Coin/Token/Cash less (no cash at bay/vacuum) System?

Hamilton's D.A.N. with a CCD will do this. https://www.hamiltonmfg.com/product/ccd/ The CCD is a bill changer/card dispenser, but if they don't offer a card dispenser only then you could configure the unit to give dollar coins for change or disable coin payout. The biggest cons are cost of...
