    foam brush

Sounds like the solenoid is bad or plugged. Not sure what type of solenoid you have but I would guess it is a plunger type. First thing to do is to remove coil from the stem with the air off. Then you should be able to unscrew the stem and look for debris around the plunger. If you find debris...

    foam brush

On a foam brush system you generally have the pump that moves the liquid soap through the lines and then is mixed with a separate incoming air line that creates the foam when going through a foam generator or mixer. It sounds like you have the air portion of the mix coming in but not the liquid...

Best powder pre soak for touchles cleaning:

Write down your starting number for the wash count when you add a new barrel of presoak. As an example let's say the barrel of mixed powder cost $100 and you monitor the barrel and you do 400 cars with that barrel. Your cost would be .25 cents per car (100 divided by 400). If your automatic...

    Floor heat question

Most floor heating systems I have put in or seen put in have the loops tied to the rebar either on top or on the bottom of the rebar. The loops generally sit in the lower third of the concrete up north here where we actually have floor heat for our bays.

Hard Winter. Repairing Asphalt and/or concrete

I used to buy a product called road patch that was a epoxy concrete. You mixed it with water and it set up very fast, you had about 15 minutes of working time with full setup in 4 hours. The company that I bought it from does not carry it anymore and I cannot find it.

    Chicago ICA- thoughts on going

I talked to the WARDEN and she said no way we were going even if Oprah herself was speaking. I have not missed a show in a very long time but I have no desire to go back to Chicago. Last time I went there was for my sons Navy graduation at Great Lakes and everything was just to expensive IMO.

    Rain X Online application

I have been using rain X in my IBAs for years with no final rinse agent after the Rain X application other than spot free rinse water and it has always worked well at beading and aiding in drying the cars.

    Ryko Monarch Issues

The owners response was that it has been doing this every couple of washes. With a hand held programmer you could find the fault code. With out seeing it up close it is hard to say. I had a Monarch like this and it was a very reliable machine overall. It could be something like a broken or...

    Ryko Monarch Issues

It probably has a some kind of pressure plate or treadle switch mounted on the floor. If something happens and the tires rolls slightly off the plate the machine will shut down because it does not know where the car is. There should be a digital 2 digit code display somewhere that will tell you...

    Low weep pressure/freeze ups

Do you have a big enough supply line going to your automatic? With more weep points it would need a large supply volume of water. If you have a big enough supply line then start at a point and work you way out checking the lines to see at what point you loose the pressure. It could be a...

What tip do you prefer on gun in self serve bay?

I like a 1508 at 1200 psi. I see alot of mud. For every 25% increase in water volume you double the impingment on the car surface.

    taxation on name and goodwill

From a buyers standpoint I would think they would want you to inflate the price of equipment and land to cover your goodwill. That way they can use it as a basis for a write off on their taxes and you could use it for capital gains.

    In bay brush automatics

I am surprised no one has mentioned Ryko for a friction machine. They sell more friction rollovers than anyone. They are a very reliable machine. I have added the token dispenser to all of my automatics and have been happy with the results. One thing I wish my token tellers had was a button that...

    Ray Pak Boiler

I just repaired one of my Ray Pak boilers and thought I would make a post showing simple repairs for others. I had a small leak coming from under the boiler and was not sure what it was. I removed the hood so that I could get down to the heat exchanger, and manifolds on each end of the...

    Raypak problem

Best thing to do is remove the draft hood. Then you can look right down onto the heat exchanger and see what it could be. I had one leaking and had 2 different boiler companies quote me 3,000+ to fix it. I can buy a brand new one from Dultmeier for that. I took the hood off and found all is was...

One of SS's Greatest Generation has passed

I remember the first WCA show I went to when I was first starting out I met Frank at the show. He took a lot of time to give this total green rookie a detailed education on the SS car wash business. Lisa and Trey also pitched in. It was always great to talk to him at all the shows. Very sorry...
