Help w/"New" Road Salt Carpet Staining

Road salts may be salt, magnesium chloride or calcium chloride. Mag chloride is the most popular since it deices in lower temps compared to salt. To remove stains use a acidic solution made with equal parts water and vinegar. The acid in the vinegar will breakdown the mag chloride as it sits on...

Upgrade Hamilton Auto cashier--what would be my choices?

If you have old hamilton face plates that cause glare buy a head light restoration kit. It will polish the face and make things easier to read. The dixmore upgrade is the way to go IMO.

    SS tire shine

I like to use the tire shine with a brush sprayer attachment. It helps get a even coat on the tire compared to just spraying it on. I think any thing that has a timer and coin mech can be converted to a tire shiner for very little money. Old fragrance machines are a good candidate. I have a...

    SS tire shine

Here is an update on the tire shine machine. Works pretty good but needed improvment. If someone puts in money the small compressor turns on and pressurizes the unit. It will stayed pressurized for the next couple of cars who could use it without paying. I fixed this by adding a T in the product...

    credit card vote

Thanks for the clarification Bill. Another thing I have recently seen is that the credit card companies are sending out flyers urging every business that accepts CC to make sure the information on their W9s are correct. Totals of deposits for each merchant will now be sent to the IRS. If there...

Upgrade Hamilton Auto cashier--what would be my choices?

Check with Randy from this forum. Dixmore has some bright red LED displays that can be retrofitted into most Hamiltons. I did all of mine a couple or years ago and they have worked great and are very easy to read from a long ways away.

    credit card vote

Senate is voting right now to delay a law that would limit credit card fees. Current average is .44 cents per swipe to the retailer and proposed new regulation would limit that fee to .12 cents per swipe. The law is set to go into effect in JUly. I for one one would love to have the extra .32...

Back to the drawing board on drying towels

When cotton towels are made a lubricant is put on the cotton called sizing that prevents the cotton from catching fire as it goes through the weavers at high speeds. When you get new towels this sizing is still on the cotton. If you have white towels a very got water wash with bleach will get...

    SS tire shine

I installed the new tire shine conversion today. Very easy install. Remove the vac motors and filters first. I had to drill 2 holes and it set right on top of the vac. Hooked up 2 wires that had powered the vac motors to a terminal strip on the new unit and ran the supply hose down through the...

Treadle pressure pad for LW 4000 ????

I purchased some from kleenrite several years ago that have never given me a problem. I use them on a Ryko Monarch 2 in place of the treadle springs that ryko used.

    Car wash siding

I put mine up on concrete block so I did not need a lot of rigidity. I went with 1/8 inch. It goes up similar to FRP with plastic rivets. For the joints between sheets I bought their stainless steel joint covers. I had them powder coated locally to match the white polymax. I preferred this over...

    Car wash siding

Take a look at Polymax plastic wall boards at Farmtek.com. It comes in various thickness depending on the strength you need. I have been using it for the past 6 years in some IBAs and it holds up very well. It is much easier to clean than FRP boards and does not yellow.

Worst Reason to build a Car Wash

After years of watching carwashes get built I have come up with a observation about failed washes. All of the washes that have failed around me were originally built for one reason. " I heard someone was looking at building a car wash and I wanted to beat them to it." I can think of 3 washes...

    Febreze Odor Eliminator

I think I would get tire shine trigger gun and brush from kleenrite for about $40 and put it on instead of the fragrance and give it a try. Fragrance never sold very well for me either.

    self serve detailing

Tools are only a small part of the detailing trade. Knowledge of how and what to use on different things is a bigger part of detailing. Providing the tools to detail without the knowledge could lead to a lot of claims IMO. You would have to have a professional detailer there at all times to...

    Sales Trend

Summer months for me are the best. It just gets too cold here in the winter for many people to wash that much. We have enough wind here that even if it were sunny everyday cars still get dirty from the blowing dust. In some areas of the country people will wash when it is cloudy but that is not...

Short cycle times of 1 minute or less will provide plenty of product and time to do all 4 tires with a brush applicator. If people using it alot after someone leaves converting over to a spray applicator would be inexpensive and stop the problem.

Sounds like you need a check valve after the wax solenoid so HP rinse water does not flow back through the solenoid into the wax tank.
