    Gated Vacuum Area

I had considered at one time gating my wash and doing a variant of "pay one price" to keep out the homeless and the freeloaders who clean out their cars and don't spend money. I might charge $2 to enter but each one would get $2 worth of tokens, so real customers can use the wash as usual, the...

Touch Select 2000 bay door by Dilling-Harris and bonus time

I've been doing this for 38 years, I've converted all kinds of systems to Dixmor timers. It can be done with any equipment. Sometimes it requires removing certain components or converting from pushbutton to rotary switch, but it's always doable. The Touch Select 2000 can be operated from any...

    Breaker tripped

What part of Texas are you in? This is a problem that wouldn't take me more than two minutes to pinpoint.

    Banning Fleet vehicles

I think the idea was to try and stop them from making the messes in the first place, or get them to cancel their account because they don't like the cleanup fee. They're leaving the bays unusable for any other customers, IMO that's a real problem.

    Trash cans are gone

I've always had that problem to some extent, but it's definitely gotten a lot worse in the last year. Used to be once a month or less, now it's several times a week.

Looking to buy my first wash

Maybe the owner will consider letting you take over the payments so they can just get out from under the debt. You're right, they won't be able to sell it for what they owe, but if it's really breaking even you should be able to make it profitable for minimal cost and work and slowly build it...

Touch Select 2000 bay door by Dilling-Harris and bonus time

You can replace the D/H timer with a Dixmor for less than $300 and it'll do what you want.

    Trash cans are gone

My "customers" sit in their cars in the bays to eat and throw the trash out the window on the bay floor, so having/not having trash cans wouldn't affect that. Now I just run them off the lot. I'm literally so busy now that I can afford to lose them if they do regularly wash, and about a third...

    Improvement or gimmick?

It doesn't seem like anything more than a visual gimmick to me. The brush isn't moving side to side, it looks like nothing more than the colors put together to look like it is, unless the two colors are different material in which case wouldn't it just leave streaks of more clean/less clean areas?

    Banning Fleet vehicles

If a $150 monthly fee doesn't stop them, make it for each day they leave the place like that.

    Banning Fleet vehicles

This is only somewhat related as I don't do any fleet accounts or token sales to companies, but I have banned several businesses from my wash, the latest of which was a concrete company. One of their guys came in and sprayed dry cement mix off a flatbed truck and left it all over the bay walls...

Just bought an old car wash

IMO you're better off with a separate high security safe plumbed to the control boxes. Anything will do for a control box since there won't be any money in it. The credit card acceptor in your image is Cryptopay which can be added to any meter box if there's room, or even mounted next to it.

Just bought an old car wash

Definitely start by replacing the timers, even if you try to open without upgrading to display timers. What you have will only accumulate 15 coins, and with today's prices you'll have people putting more than that in and they'll lose their money. If you think it's going to work, you might as...

    Building a Repressurization System

I've been getting Dayton from Zoro.com (Part # G0338274) whenever there's a 20% off everything sale. I haven't had any problems with Dayton motors in the last five years or so, but normally I prefer Baldor, they're just a lot more expensive. Bell housing is PPA10481C from Kleen-Rite. 1X408...

Ideal equipment room length and width.

Not quite high enough. The ceiling is about 14', but I had thought about building a loft for storage. The purlins come down about 12" so there won't be enough room to walk.

Ideal equipment room length and width.

My wash's room is pretty big, I think 25 x 20', big enough that I plan to build a small air-conditioned office in a cubbyhole at the front. It was built with the plan of adding an automatic, not sure why because there's no possible way to do that with the layout. My chemicals are all in 30 and...

    Building a Repressurization System

It will work, but at 150 PSI the flow at the bay will be pretty weak. https://www.kleen-ritecorp.com/p-1848-kip-valves-24-volt-side-metering-stainless-steel-solenoid-valve-1-8-nptf-3-32-orifice.aspx The info is wrong, and the ports are 1/8", but it is rated to 250 PSI and there are reducer...
