    Air compressor

I have the older version of this one (Almost exactly the same except red): https://www.homedepot.com/p/Husky-80-Gal-5-HP-2-Stage-Air-Compressor-HS5181/100005910 It's been bulletproof except for the usual cheap Chinese-made motor which has been replaced at least once in 20 years. I had this as a...

Mandatory Mask Ordinances (How Will You React As a Business Owner?)

The majority of mine are wearing masks, mainly when they first show up and get change, but they're usually off by the time they're in a bay washing. I put the one sign on the door by the changer more to cover myself than anything else. It's just a printed sheet of paper laminated with clear...

    Coin Shortage??????

I know a guy who has, and after he described the setup he said "The only problem is that I'm making more money!" He does lose 10,000 tokens a year, but at a cost of 33¢ each and valued at $1 from the changer he doesn't mind.

Goldline or interface issue on D&S 5000

Can you turn off that auto select completely? It's been a few years since I've messed with a Goldline, but IIRC if it's still the factory CC system on it you should be able to swipe your card and then select a wash. I've noticed most customers will do it that way.

    Bucket washers

Yup, there isn't room for signage that lists everything they can't (or out of common courtesy shouldn't) do. My last run-in was this past Sunday when it was very busy, guy had pulled into a bay on a phone call, sat there for a good ten minutes, then left. Maybe 45 minutes later he's back in...

    Dilling Harris Boom Parts

This one is off a Coleman boom but it should be the same size. I can't tell for sure if it's 12 TPI or 14 so I guess it's not coarse, it measures 1/2" tall and I can count 6 full threads plus a bit, but I'm pretty sure it's not a full 7 threads in that 1/2" height. I got some at a local bolt...

    Dilling Harris Boom Parts

FWIW I've had the best luck with CRC "Knock 'er Loose" as a penetrating oil. Just don't get it in your eyes. Even though the shaft is stainless steel, the nuts rust so bad I usually can't get them off even with an impact. I almost always have to cut the lower nut in three places and split it...

Goldline or interface issue on D&S 5000

I have never seen a Goldline do that, but I would assume it's a setting in the programming. I checked Hamilton's site and couldn't find a manual for it, but they'll send you one. If it's not a setting and it turns out it's from someone selecting a wash, you might need to mod it somehow to time...

    ww 1.0

Near Dallas. They don't usually deal direct with the end user, but most of the big distributors get stuff from them. They manufacture Dultmeier's pump stands and tanks.

    Bucket washers

That's all pretty cheap and easy to do. You can either cut the floor for a loop or use a loop plate that bolts down. I've been wanting to use alarm motion sensors to do similar things. I'll eventually have four lights per bay and have half shut off at night, but have them come on if someone...

    ww 1.0

Dralco will make a tank to your specs. It won't be cheap, but it'll be cheaper than Coleman, and it won't leak. They don't weld dividers into a tank, they make each compartment separately then weld them together.

    Bucket washers

After 38 years I'm done arguing with customers. I just tell them it's illegal and I will call the police. I've been threatened, cursed at, etc. and I just won't put up with it for a few dollars. It's surprising how fast their attitude changes when they realize they're being kicked out.

    Vac claws being stolen. Advice?

Clean them out right before they usually show up, or catch them and have the police issue a criminal trespass warrant. I thought I had them stopped but they pried a door open and ruined a vac. I may end up with a bar running down both sides of the door.

This one customer was so clueless...

I watched a girl one day spray her car with spot free rinse, then she bought an Armor All protectant pad and scrubbed her car with it, then sprayed it with presoak and left. I had a guy straddle the treadle running the left arm across his hood, and when I went to see why the auto hadn't started...

    Vac claws being stolen. Advice?

I quit using the large open-end type after the third or fourth time I had to unstick a piece of clothing from the middle of the hose. I just bought a second box of 50 claw nozzles in about 18 months.

    Vac claws being stolen. Advice?

Make sure the vacs are working well. I've finally stopped the homeless from getting into the cleanouts and leaving the doors open. People pull the claws off when the vac doesn't work.

Customer complains that ss high pressure removed clear coat. Help me respond plz

Just about every car bumper painted to match the car is plastic or rubber. The plastic isn't the issue. Did you read this thread in its entirety? The issue is getting under a rock chip and lifting the paint. You were most likely trying to pressure off a rock chip.

    Coin Shortage??????

I also mix some tokens into the changer and have a sign on it stating such. If I didn't, I'd be buying 4000 quarters a week.

    Looking to lease car wash

You could probably get it up and running for $50k, but you'll need a lot of help, a good bit of time, and a good deal on used equipment. I agree the car count is too low, but that might not be a problem if there's really good access. My wash is at a traffic light so getting in and out is safe...
