That's the flat door that fits Weben-style boxes with the slots to accept them. A lot of the older boxes don't have the slots, but the same door can be made for a hinge. I've had doors made like that which are almost the same except the timer and rotary switch positions are swapped.

The major downside to doing this is that many of them require their techs to sign a no-compete clause. The distributor I went back to a few years ago normally had their employees sign one but never asked me to. Just as well, I would have refused.

I know someone who replaced his about a year ago. The pits aren't very wide so they're super sturdy. I only have one bay with a pit, and it's 4' across - I have my doubts that the fiberglass grates will be strong enough.

Muriatic acid works, but it will eat away the mortar and concrete, plus the fumes are really harsh no matter how you apply it. There's almost no fumes from Klean Wall when you brush it on.

The fiberglass grates are a lot less than that, but shipping is pricey. At least you can go pick them up at Kleen-Rite.
