    Cracked Grate

I'd weld angle on the edge instead. Just a flat bar on the bottom won't add a lot of rigidity. It will most likely flex and the welds will crack. Welding a piece of flat bar all the way down the side will box it and make it very rigid because the bar won't flex easily that way.

    Cracked Grate

The flat stock needs to match the flat stock the grate is made of so it won't stick out. Yours looks like it's almost too narrow anyway, so there's room to add stock to the sides without trimming the width of the grate.

    Cracked Grate

They will usually break like that unless you weld flat stock all the way down the sides. The round bar is just there to hold the rest together.

    Painting An Older Brick Wash

I've seen much worse walls that didn't need anywhere near a pallet of Klean Wall, don't scare the guy. :) Mine are bad, way worse than his. I brush it on so there's almost no waste, and I've cleaned one bay with about a half a 5-gallon jug of Klean Wall. The bay pressure is enough to get it...

    Painting An Older Brick Wash

That brick will clean up nicely with Klean Wall. I would not paint it or any car wash. Once you paint, you're stuck forever painting it to keep it from looking bad. tdlconcept's wash looks great just being clean. Paneling is the next best option IMO.

    Supplier Pricing

Cat doesn't allow its sellers to advertise a price unless it's MSRP.

    MEI Bill acceptor error.

    From the AE2600 spec manual:
  9. MEP001

    MEI Bill acceptor error.

The last letter just denotes the harness it originally shipped with. The U3E comes with the 9 pin VFM harness, yours came with none.

    MEI Bill acceptor error.

You'll have to send it for repair. I send them to AECO Sales, for about $100 they come back like new. I just bought another refurbished unit off eBay, $240 and it also looks like new.

    Vacuum hose color

My customers vacuum up so much dirt that the insides of the hoses stay sand-blasted pretty clean. I have washed out the insides of a couple when they felt heavy.

    Vacuum hose color

I use gray. They hide normal grime and scuffing but if there's grease or food I can see it easily so I can pull it off and clean it. Blue is definitely hard to keep clean, but they look better if you have a blue theme.

    Help removing coil from manifold

I just had to deal with the same issue of the stem turning. I sprayed WD-40 on the nut and let it sit for about ten minutes, then stuck a large screwdriver between the coil and the block and twisted while I turned the nut. That stopped the stem from turning, worked on two stuck solenoids.

    Swivel locations

Mosmatic are good, but if I were to run just one swivel I'd put it at the boom between the bay hose and swivel saver. They last a lot longer there without the wear from being pulled on sideways like they do at the gun, plus they get really beat up and ugly at the gun. I just use a brass Adams...

    SS in bay canopy lights

Pretty sure it was 1/4", King StarBoard. It's starting to sag a tiny bit along the edges, but I'm just going to get some white coated screws and add them.

    Swivel locations

I used to do the two swivels. I had two upper ones start to leak in the span of a couple days and didn't have any spares, so I took them out until my order came in. I can't tell a difference in the ones with two and the ones with one swivel at the gun, and I do a lot more turning around while...

    Supplier Pricing

I worked for a distributor that had "Call for pricing" in their catalog. It was because the prices were all higher than Kleen-Rite/Windtrax/etc. The owner figured they might make a sale because they already had the item on hand locally, or might try to sell the person on service, but they...

Purchasing A Self Service Wash - Advice On Equipment

I prefer Synflex instead of steel braided. It's expensive, but it usually lasts at least 20 years, it can withstand repeated freezing, and it rarely breaks for no reason. It also smooths out the normal vibration of the pump so the whole building doesn't hum. It just needs to be protected from...

Just need to check myself on wiring 24vac

You can only do that if the transformers are 120V AC and one side of the 24V is neutral. It is never a problem if the phases are in line. I have yet to meet any professional certified electrician who can fully understand the low-voltage side of a car wash. What are these "fewer issues" that...
