    For those CFL converts…

FYI for all y'all amp inquirers... Pulled new wire 14awg to 4 wall packs today...converted to 120v. Installed 85w CFLs. Checked amps after they were on for 30 minutes. 1.15 amps each (four tenths more than the math) but... YEAH!!!

    KR foam brush assembly

I've been using 1/4" Hp on side-mount booms for years. Lighter weight, durable, kink-free, and less slappy. The smaller diameter also blows out more completely and maybe...just maybe, delivers foam to the brush a bit quicker(?)

    Gun control

I’ve been spending a bit more time on the property doing some spring cleaning and taking care of the deferred maintenance. I’ve met a few new customers…in the first place, that’s surprising because I’ve been operated the place for 20 years. But then, I suppose people move to the market area...

    Motor contactor chatter...

Hmmmm, "Least used bay"...furthest from starter panel??? Measure voltage at meter box...24+ volts? Yes...swap timer from working bay No...measure voltage at transformer...24+ volts? Yes...MEP001's suggestion No...replace transformer (I'm betting it's the timer)

That blows a big 'ole hole in my theory about never having to fix things that don't get used!

Modding an "Old" Mark VII Pump Stand

Hey 2Biz… I have the "elegant solution" for your 4 bays! Remove the ABO solenoids from the foam gun system (and use them for WW on your FB system) Add 1 exmod and rewire the FG I/O to the controller Air solenoids now serve as Air assist AND ABO 2 or 3 second delayed start if WM O2 is on. Same...

    For those CFL converts…

NOOOO!!! I've twice rescheduled the starting date of the Skins Games because of your "ideas". My players are getting antsy for the season to begin! (So am I.) :D

210 watts of CFLs in LSI canopy fixtures with dingy-yellowed lenses 800 watts of HID in LSI canopy fixtures with dingy-yellowed lenses The difference is negligible. The place is really quiet now that the electric meter's SCREAMING has stopped.:D Interestingly, a customer was using one of...

    Wash Cycle Pressure Loss

Install a fully closing trigger gun on it and see what happens...ok, don't. The weep guns work just like a spray tip, but with a smaller orifice. That's why the psi raises with the gun closes.

    Wash Cycle Pressure Loss

Straighten me out on this…zero pressure on the gauge when the plumbing is in its normal configuration…and, zero or very little flow of water to the bay? If this is true...and based on what you’ve reported, I would presume a plugged discharge after the attic manifold. And why does the gauge go...

    Credit Card Fees

40% of my total income comes via CC transactions…automatically deposited into the bank account. 6% CC fees represent only 2.5% of my total income. CC customers save me time and bill changer/coin acceptor maintenance expense due to less cash exposure…for a small fee. At minimum, my CC...

    For those CFL converts…

Built the lighting control panel…ready to install along with the Intermatic timer. Pulled an inoperative RAB wall-pack out of bay (xformer failure) 85w CFL with mogul-medium base adaptor ($2.39 from HD)…no other modifications required! 105w mogul-base CFL in same fixture…no modifications...

    Wash Cycle Pressure Loss

Unless the weep inlet supply is rigid or hi-pressure hose... THAT'S why weep inlet plumbing should be no more than 200psi wp tubing or hose. A blown check valve will likely pop the tubing. Works like an "early warning" system...water spewing all over the equipment room instead of filling the...

    Wash Cycle Pressure Loss

Big leak in the downstream plumbing...probably a failed check valve on the weep system. Turn the bay on soap for a few minutes. Check for soapy water in your rinse tank. If so, CV failed and the pump is dumping pressure (and water) back into the car wash's water supply. Or, failed CV on the...

Add separate coin box or replace existing?

Here's another option http://www.idxinc.com/carwash/wickets.htm for fleets and such. They also have a cool vault...electric lock so there's no keyhole to tempt the scumbags....and no keys to keep track of. Push a momentary contact switch to start a 5 minute timer in the equipment room. Then...

Modding an "Old" Mark VII Pump Stand

Look at the link in post #10...my system looks like that, without the separate tanks.

Modding an "Old" Mark VII Pump Stand

That's what I do. One water tank with 8 outlet ports and 1/2" hose to each pump. Although, your boiler is likely too small to provide consistantly warm water wash/rinse/wax on busy days. Is your foam gun dispensing foaming wax? If so, then the boiler is getting closer to handling the high...

Modding an "Old" Mark VII Pump Stand

    Well...ummm...yes! You are correct! For your 4 bay.... 1 FL1E + 2 FL1B = 12 Q FB AND blowout air = 4 Q FB soap = 4 Q FB ww = 4 Q :)

Modding an "Old" Mark VII Pump Stand

yeah...a closer look at the photo shows the Erie valve outlet is already bushed down from 3/4" NPT to 1/2" x 1/2" hose barb...that clear braided hose. So, no change needed in water supply to pump...size wise. I guess I mis-remembered?
