Warnings You Would Give Me Letting Large Crowds of Youth "Loiter" at the SS?

#3 is the reason why you should tell them to leave and get the PD involved. Then it becomes a Wednesday hang out for the low riders, Thursday for the high school kids and Fridays for all the lifted trucks in the county. They will cost you business from the regulars and will later start making...

    Dumpster odor

We had a site that was identical. We ended up removing all trash cans other than the cans in the vac islands. In addition we added stainless trash can covers. It took about a week for people to figure out that they needed to find elsewhere to throw excessive trash, but we have seen a tremendous...

    Membership for IBA’s

Issue you run into is if it goes well, which you hope it does, you may upset customers with the long lines. We have single bay sites that consistently wash 115-128 cars daily and at peak times cars are lines up 7-8 deep and waiting anywhere from 3 minutes to 6 minutes for the top wash. With 3...

Best Salt Brand for Water Softener

I kinda have to agree that something doesn't sound right with 1 bag a month. Softener is set to regen every 9000 gallons, unless its an extremely slow site then maybe. Our sites use over 100k gallon of water a month, some over 200k and softeners regen multiple times a month. I am strictly going...

Adding a bay onto existing split face block.

White will turn a dingy yellow after a few years. Waste of money. If you look at pick up beds with black spray on liners that get washed a lot, they start getting white stains. Not a good choice for car wash walls

New to forum & looking to start a self service wash

Have to agree with the above on building a new self serve car wash. Now if you were to build a 4 bay with 1 automatic, that changes things as a good automatic will out produce your self serve income. Now if you were to do this at an existing site, you would be much better off.

    Service Company Concerns

It's hard enough to find an attendant to keep wash clean and make minor repairs. A good tech is hard to find, has to be a plumber, electrician, handy man, welder etc etc. It's hard to find good people that want to work, especially in the car wash industry. It is definitely different than most...

How many guys have 2 IBA's?

We have one double bay site with a TF and Friction. The Friction will wash 4:1 on the TF. When the friction is down, seldom will those customers use the TF and same goes when the TF is down. People are creatures of habit and stick to what they are used to. Several years ago all our units were TF...

    T handle security enhancements

X2 on these guys. We were hit pretty strong a few years ago and finally figured out how they were getting in and we were shocked. We were able to replicate how the thieves opened our vaults with T handles and medeco lock in less than 30 seconds. Once we installed the LAI locks they tried a...
