    Idea for lighted vac domes?

MEP001, How well do CFLs hold up with the all the vibrations? I've tried several styles of incandescent bulbs (rough service, garage door opener, appliance, standard) and haven't found anything that last particularly long, < 6 mos. Haven't yet tried CFLs. Thanks. MC

    Hydraulic Fluid Mystery

The level doesn't seem to fluctuate with temp. Came in yesterday morning and it was on the mark before any anything got washed. Reservoir tank was at ambient temp. ~ 60 degrees. No change throughout the day

    Lustrashield with Break Dust Repellent

Wood: I'm not suggesting for a minute that a vehicle should leave the lot anything less than 100% clean. But it has to be dirty to motivate the customer to want to wash. Dirty wheels motivate. I like to see my customers once a week. We both know they won't repeat if they're not happy. MC

    Competitors Coupons (survey)

We used to also, but the need to is gone, along with one of the competitors. Our washes are value priced so we don't offer any of our own. MC

Using Recycled Water with a Cat Pump

I've been using plunger pumps with reclaim water for a long time and have not had any problems. I'm getting ready to replace the only Cat (18 yrs) and am questioning whether to replace it with same or try something different. Does anyone have experience with Arimitsu and reclaim water.

    hubbell wall pack

Sounds like the wrong fixture. Aren't the bulb bases are larger for a 150w met.halide than a household incandescent? You shouldn't have been able to screw one in.

    Hydraulic Fluid Mystery

For the second time in the last three weeks the site glass on the hydraulic pack reservoir indicated low fluid level at morning start-up. Thorough inspection found no leaks. After washing several vehicles the level rose about a quarter inch on the glass w/o having added any fluid. Where and why...

    Lustrashield with Break Dust Repellent

I'm not sure this product is good idea. Many of my customers come in because of brake dust and either purchase wheel cleaner as an ala carte option or included with top wash. To use a product that would reduce the accumulation of brake dust is counter productive. Even if you are able to charge...

What kind of equipment are you using that offers the PA option? Does it have 2-way audio capability? Thanks. MC

What would you do for Travel to KR Expo?

If the family is joining you, you must be promising the world. Mine would absolutely run the other way at the prospect of riding six hours for Dad's car wash activity. Gettysburg is an hour west and Lancaster 20 minutes to the east. Lots to do at either place. Have fun! MC

    Arimitsu Pumps v/s Cat Pumps

Bill, I think part of the issue with customer reviews is the timing. When something new get's installed there's obviously high expectations but no solid performance history to rate or endorse. After the honeymoon, the experience tends to get lost in the fray. I just replaced rollers. The...

    induction lighting...converting my Scottsdale lights

Is the whole fixture being replaced or just the bulb? I'm not following the math here - 80W wallpack or surface is $200. and I didn't see where there was an 80w bulb option. MC

    Bill Acceptor Service

Just a query to see who's using what brand of bill acceptor and what typical maintenance interval and costs are associated with them. Is $100./year/unit high, moderate or low? Thanks. MC

    ShurVend Vending Sales---Again

The dollar items move reasonably well at our locations. Every time something is introduced above that it sits until It either gets discounted or pulled. Four quarters is a tough mind set to crack around here. MC

    Cleaning Stainless Steel

For routine polishing we just tried a product called Red Max from Lowe's or Home Depot. Seems to work well and is economical. Whatever you choose, stay away from anything that's not water based. Oily residue will attract dirt. MC

    Email from customer

Are they regular customers or transient? Suggest that it was sap (because it sure sounds like it was) and ask them to recall when it was parked beneath a tree. I would also inform them that the issue should have been brought to your attention BEFORE they tackled it thelmselves. As the owner...

    PolyVend Conversion

I have an old PolyVend through wall that still operates with a plastic Coinco acceptor that is holding me back from eliminating the dispensing of quarters. Has anyone updated to an electronic acceptor capable of accepting dollars coins? Source of retro kit? Thanks. MC

    Paint Question

Before you spend time researching paint, research the local codes to see where this guy is coming from. The last thing you want to do is to paint walls that will be impossible or very expensive to maintain based on a subjective reaction to aesthetics. How old is the wash? Presumably, it was...

    Roller Advice

Good point about the stainless, Earl. I changed a few plastic wheels this morning on the most problematic rollers and found some of the bolt heads to be chewed up. Definitely not worth rebuilding. There was a composite model was introduced in Vegas a few years back but I didn't understand how...
