    How's Business Been?

MEP: why in the hell would someone open a $3.4 M tunnel right now? That takes big ball$! They have forced theirselves to do ungodly numbers just to keep the doors open. Back to the subject, I am in the Mid-Atlantic. Nineteen days of rain in June has not put a good spin on things. Jan-June...

Which rollover manufacture has washed the most cars?

I have a Nu*Star cloth machine with 120k washes on it, and still going strong. It is 5.5 years old.

    VFD's, Blowers and electric bill

My older unit is Worldwide, with four 15hp motors. My newest is from Nu*Star with six 7.5 hp motors. Both do a good job. I think I like the Worldwide just a tad better because of the five outlets on each side producer. This seems to blow the sides down real good. Worldwide is out of...

    VFD's, Blowers and electric bill

I just added a second automatic at a 5/1; thus making it a 4/2. I have 400 amp service. One electrician told me I needed to upgrade to 600 amp service at a cost of $35,000. Total running amps would be less than 400 amps, though. Start up was the issue. So I did some research and found...

    Damn intermittent problem

I have a ww1 with an american changer. I too, had some sort of occasional issue where that stacked wash would not activate properly. Then the paystation would go to "out of service", and page me. It was always on the weekends, maybe twice per month. So I took the stacking function out of the...

What's Your Experience with Rinnai Tankless Heaters

I know that you need to move at least 3 gpm for this type of application. Did you calculate the head for the pump you are using? In other words, does your pump give you 3 gpm with the head that you have? Also, check the inlet strainer to be sure there is nothing clogged in it. I know my pump...

What's Your Experience with Rinnai Tankless Heaters

I have had two in place for over two years. Not one problem. I installed mine a bit different than the other posters. I installed only one heater for a 9-bay, and one heater on a four bay. Instead of direct feeding, I am running a closed loop with a small circlualtor and a boiler coil in my...

Can Coin-Ops Clean w/o Foam Brushes?

I have three black vehicles. When I use the s/s I never use the brush. A triple pass of pre-soak, let it sit 60 seconds or so, then hp soap with hot water, hp rinse, spot-free, then go. A vehicle on a regular cleaning schedule can come clean with no brush. Ofcourse, I am using a high ph...

    evaporation or water loss?

I have a sewer meter on a 4 s/s plus 2 friction ibas. Actual loss to evap and carryoff for me is 10-12%. I was way disappointed, as I was expecting the 20-25% that the ICA survey indicated. It is a mystery to me.

    Golden Dollars vs. Quarters

I suggest neither. Instead, high security tokens with a protected territory. No stringing, no replenishing dollars or quarters, no hassle. Carry off pays for the cost of the tokens.

    Whats up with D & H????

You gotta be kidding! A $750k wash is being held up by a few hunderd dollars in meter panels. Who cares if they are paid for. Call Kleen-Rite, Dultmeier, Windtrax, or Mac....anybody can get those quickly.

    Lowering price

I have noticed business dropping a bit in the last few weeks, as the gas prices increased. We are at $2.35 for the cheap, and $2.75 for premium in Delaware. As before, as gas approached $3, the business just evaporated. Most consumers used to be in love with their cars, even if it was a pos...

Mud Bog In Town - Would You Close?

Ditto with Red Baron and MEP. It is a CAR WASH. Not a mud wash, not a tractor wash, not a pick up full of mulch, pine needles, & leaves wash, not a bobcat wash, not a front end loader wash, not a dirt track stock car wash, and finally not a backhoe wash.

Bad, bad auto-cashier. How could you jump into the path of the nice gentleman's vehicle. I knew that block could not hold you down!!

    Switch to Electric flo-jet

I sent in four more air operated flo-jets this month; under warranty. Made in China, ofcourse. I wish they would bring production back to the US, and charge what they need to charge to make to the pump right. It is getting to be a pain in the a$$ changing these all the time. And ofcourse, it...

What's the age of your automatic(s)

Have a Nu*Star soft touch at five years old with 110,000 washes. PM is a priority. No major issues with the machine; still runs like new. I just put in a second one at this location.

    coin counter

The best thing I bought was a Cummins Jet-Scan 2 pocket currency counter. It cut my bill counting time by 75%. It sorts, orients, faces, and straps whatever amount you want. It was $4k, but with four washes, it was more than worth the money. It has been in use for four years with no problems.
