No pressure on rinse or wax

It's probably the tubing line that runs from the soap solenoid in the bottom of the electrical box down to the pump. It's drawing air through a bad fitting or a hole in the tubing. The one for soap, which should be red.

How do you see the future of self serve wash business?

I think my wash is best-case, it's at a traffic count on a road with over 30,000 count, and no competition nearby on the main road. There are two other washes nearby, both doing very well, but their traffic count is way lower than mine. So my outlook on the SS is good. If I were to build new...

    CAT CP 2120 Vibration

If your rinse solenoids are still there and working, the pulsation will stop when you switch to rinse. That would indicate either cavitation from the check valve being stuck closed or loss of pressure from a leak somewhere letting the pump pull air. Neither of these would produce the...

theft device used on Hamilton changers

Can you put a camera inside your changer to watch what they're doing? The only thing I can think of is that they're reaching up to that relay and triggering a payout. I would bet the device you see them using is a snake camera plugged into a phone. If this is the case and you block access...

    Drying quarters

I'll test it first to make sure it works. The thermostat was mounted at the top of the coin chute to read the outside temp. I'm pretty sure the heater can just be left on - the thermostat is nowhere near the heater, and I imagine up north the heater stays on for 3 months of the year.

    Weatherhead T-460 crimper hose recomendation

I'd recommend calling a Parker distributor and asking them what fitting you need to crimp onto 100R7 thermoplastic hose. Kleen-Rite probably has the fittings, but I wouldn't trust them to get you the right ones with a phone call.

    Chemical backflow possibility through Hydrominder

That's why I replaced mine instead of rebuilding it, the three kits for a complete overhaul were almost $800.

    Coleman Vacuum motor replacement?

Of the ones Earl linked before, only the .8 ID is the crush-guard. The rest is just split poly tubing meant for wrapping wires and may not give the same protection.

    Chemical backflow possibility through Hydrominder

Mine is not a POS. It's a "good Watts 2" that was $600 new. It was 20 years old before the freeze damaged it.

    Unlimited for Self Serves

When I first got out on my own, typical top-loaders were 50¢ and the biggest front-loaders were $2.50. Utilities are pretty cheap here. There are still car washes around here that are a minute per quarter, lots in San Antonio at 50¢ for 3 minutes.

    Water Wizard 1.0 Refurbish

Call Scotch Plaid in Dallas. They may be able to suggest someone in your area who can walk you through it and teach you the basics. Once you understand how the unit works, it's actually pretty easy to diagnose most things and adjust chemicals and how it lays on the car.

    Drying quarters

The ones in a Hamilton changer are 120V and use a very inexpensive thermostat to keep from overheating the validator. I might have a couple sitting around I can mail to you if I can get it off the old validator mount without damaging it, or I could send you the whole mount for you to cut the...

    Chemical backflow possibility through Hydrominder

The city isn't concerned about just the Hydrominders. They want the whole building protected from any chance of contaminating the city supply. Why is the backflow preventer $2,000? Is that including installation? My 2" incoming RPZ backflow valve was damaged in the freeze, and even now it's...

    Repair leaks while operating?

There must be a solenoid stuck open. Hopefully you can follow it back to the solenoid so you can tell which one it is. The aluminum coil retainer tends to corrode to the stem. I've had to take a Dremel to the top of some and cut a slot for a screwdriver to keep it from turning.

    Repair leaks while operating?

I'm still wondering why this is happening. There are solenoids in place that should keep presoak/soap/wax from coming out of the tubing if you remove it from the manifold. Is that what's happening?
