That type of wash/(owner) is what is wrong in our industry. Everytime a customer experience a wash like that it hurts all of us. The next time they need a wash they might not go to a self service or tunnel wash thinking they'll get another crappy wash.

I'm sure you know but check with the city to see if you need a permit before spending any money.

Years ago I saw a wash that used a home made plastic flow thru pouch of b.b.'s in a pvc tube. At the time the guy was getting great foam. Don't know if he still uses them or if he's still in business.

I had someome tell me he bought a cell phone for his wash (at the cheapest rate plan) and connected his lines and also his alarm to it because the "business rate" was too high. I haven't tried it but it does sound interesting.

Are you sure your lines aren't clogged from the soap tank to the pump? I use Kleen-Rite orange cream. Customers love it. I have a friend that has used Blendcoe for years. He really likes it.

Everythings about timing. I have a detail shop thats been leasing from me for 25 yrs. Had only 1 accident until 2006 when his guys had 5. Insurance covered 3 then dropped him. All I'm saying is you better be prepared.

Years ago I had one bay only that did the same thing. Put silicon on all connectons but sometimes it would still do it. Finally I cut the bay/gun hose shorter and used a shorter wand so that they couldn't reach the box with the gun. Probably wasn't the right solution but it solved the problem...

If you do it you'll need "garage keepers" insurance. If you have it already you might have to increase your amounts of insurance and I would also carry an umbrella insurance policy. Think twice about the whole idea.

Earl I agree with you that most people don't have a clue to how much time they get. But I have to tell you that I own two washes about 2 miles apart and at one I offer bonus time on the vacs. I have many customers that by pass one wash to get to the vacs with bonus time. $5 for 30...

Why not charge $1.00 but double the vac time to 8 minutes instead of 4. Promote it and I bet you'll not only get a lot of customers that use your wash to use the vacs but people that just want to use the vacs when your open and closed. Win Win.

I have the same problem on 2 pumps. Took apart the 310 pump apart 3 times and replced everything. Fixed one problem created another. My CAT 623 is one of last original pumps. Decided enough was enough. Just ordered a new CAT 310 and 623. Ouch.
