    Replacing old compressor

Any of you guys had problems with the motors on the IR? I have the 80 gallon, 5 hp, 2-stage, 220v single phase. I have had it since '05. It just fried its 7th motor. I buy the replacements at Grainger and buy the triple-guard warranty, which gives me one free replacement. But something is...

    Water Wizard 1.0 blow down

I only thing I noticed on the set up with the dryers, was a 2.5 second delay for starting. I did set that to zero yesterday. But I have not talked to my attendant to see if it made any difference. And like you, I have not seen any set ups for the blow down. I figure if anybody knew how, they...

    Water Wizard 1.0 blow down

I have a WW 1.0 that parks at the exit, and dryers are free standing right after the machine. When the wash finishes, there is a blow down cycle before the car ever leaves the treadle. If the vehicle exits really fast, they get a bit of soap on the vehicle that the blowers do not always...

Strongly cosidering a new Autec AES 260. Any thoughts?

Be prepared to give the friction machine a lot more attention. Attended is best. But if not, it should be checked morning and afternoon. There is a lot more to go wrong, and/or for people to tear up on a friction machine. Also, be prepared for the mess a hydraulic hose break makes. I will...

    Solar Hot Water Quote.

I have both solar pv and solar hot water. You are all right--if not for the grants and the sale of srecs, no one would do solar pv. But since all those goodies are there in Delaware, it makes pay back 4-4.5 years. I have 3 car wash locations with solar pv, and I just did a 7.2kW system on my...

Beware Ultimate Tube Heater From KleenRite

    Ultimate Doors Belt Info

Here is the issue with the belts on the doors. They switched to all those uhm (plastic) bearings. With the belt system, it needs to be really tight. The more you tighten the belt, the more resistance you place the shaft under against the belt. That resistance causes the belt to slip/jump...

    Trough heat comments welcomed

Trough heat should not be run with floor heat, as you will want to run the trough when you are not running floor heat. I bought a wash hooked up this way, and immediately changed it to a separate heater. Someone's great idea to save a couple hundred bucks--I guess. You need to have a "high"...

Good service comes from the heart

That is a nice "wake up" call. With all of the aggravations of being in business, sometimes we forget why we are in business.

Credit Card/Token Machine not reading cards

Run a cleaning card through it several times. If that does not work, you will need to call American Changer to get an exchange. They send you a refurb, and you send in your old one. I think it is about $225. Or you can keep the old one and buy a new one for $700.

    Ultimate Polycarb Door Overhaul

Did you replace the little mufflers on the side of the control box? And the speed adjustments on the air cylinder? These will cause the door to move slowy, if they are clogged. Ultimate recommends replacing those yearly. I do it just at the beginning of Winter. Both of thoses items can trap...

    flourescent ballast

Actually, you can also change to (2) t-8 ho. It uses the same ends as the t-12, so all you do it switch the ballasts and bulbs. I get both from 1000bulbls.com. The ballast is about $45 and the bulbs are about $8 each. (F96T8HO) $61 for total change out. These bulbs are 86 watts each versus...

    Need a new Loan!

Ghetto--I think those are very decent rates, especially considering you are fixed for the term. You do not have to worry about any flutuations in the markert or economy that could possibly take that rate much higher.

    The Art of Garbage Management

It is amazing to me how many idiots leave their personal mail, along with their other junk. I have sent quite a few bills with photos; this has allowed me to collect a few checks for my aggravation. Some have not paid, but I did not pursue it. My time is more important.

    NRCC convention in Atlantic City

My business partner and myself are going. It will be interesting to see what kind of turn out there is. I am going to guess it will be light. I noticed they extended the early sign up last week.

    4.5% Credit Card Processing?

Usually everyone's discount rate is in the 1.5-2.5% range. It is the add ons of nq cards, corporate cards, elite cards, visa apf fees, etc. I take my total fees divided by the total cc sales, and get the real rate.

New Reclaim Install with JCC Water Wizard 1.0

I have a different pump on a Pur-Clean system. The issue seems to be that when you are dropping to less nozzles, the reclaim unit is still pushing water at 45 psi. Typically, your pump is gravity fed; therefore there is an automatic reduction in the intake water when you are running less...

    Car Wash Vs. Laundry

If you are going to build a car wash next to a laundry, I would try to use the hot air exhaust from the clothes dryers to heat or pre-heat the wash water for the car wash. It should be fairly simple to do; and you would save big bucks.
