    Dixmor Weep Mizer

I farted around with those once. Guess what?? Froze up. I guess it is a "guy" thing, can't leave well enough alone sometimes. I thought the same as you....too much water. But add the wind to that temp and it affects the freezing. If you do change them, make sure you have two sensors...

    Refund issues.

I was not necessarily trying to be a hard a$$. Even if customer is there, you can quickly verify by video. I would normally say, "let me go check". Most incidents are call ins to my pager, anyhow. This affords me the time to check. As well, it gives me piece of mind that I am not getting...

    Refund issues.

I disagree with just giving refunds/tokens. I review everything on video. Even if someone lost a buck in a vacumm or changer, I check it. It only takes a minute or two to verify. Once you say "video" ,a scammer will say "nevermind". Video solves a whole lot of issues.

    Flow-jet pump problem

I have had a lot of these fail lately. It seems Flo-Jet has sent production South of the border. The warranty is 16 months from production date. I have been sending every single one back to Kleen-Rite. Everyone has been credited....about 10 over the past 18 months. It is all the same issue...

Overbuilding, it seems to be evrywhere

The other problem is when one of these chains runs a bad show, this could potentially affect your market share. If a customer uses a rollover at the chain, and it does a lousy job, chances are next time he/she rides by your wash they may not stop because of the bad overall experience. I have...

    Electric rates/ provider quotes

Since we are supposed to have power choice now, has anyone actually shopped out their power needs, and changed? If so, what has been the experience. I assume you would receive two bills: one from the supplier, and one from the transmission provider. I have received a few postcards touting...

    Shipping & Handling Blues

If you have a "Signs by Tomorrow" in your area, I would highly recommend them for any signage. They are quick and prices are reasonable. Vinyl letters would normally be done for you in a day.

    People getting change

I vote for $1 high security tokens. That is all I dispense, even in my auto cashiers as change. No quarters are dispensed on my sites. The high security token, with a 100 mile protected radius, cost 19 cents per. So you make 81 cents per on the 1-2% yearly "walk away". No stringing, no...

    Economic Impact

I am in lower Delaware. For my three locations the y-t-d decline ranges from 11%-22% Although August was actually a bit up in all three....thank goodness. A good Winter is key to get us out of this slump. Gas under $3 would not hurt, either.

    New Source Membranes/Reclaim

Has anyone installed the New Source reclaim membranes from Con-Serv? If so, pros-cons, suggestions. Thanks.

    heat for self serve trough

I prefer separate system for the trough. I shut floor heat off at night, but you can't if it is connected to the trough. Since fuel has risen tremendously, I only run that floor heater when absolutely necessary. The trough heat on a little 6 or 12 gallon electric water heater with a 1/40 hp...

    Rebuild Kits for Cat Pumps

Did you replace the water feed hose? I have had a situation where it looked like plenty of feed, but when attached to the pump it was sucking the inside of the hose inward causing a restriction of the feed. I always replace the inlet hose at the first sign of pulsation, as it is the easiest...

    Cat pump 623 problem

I changed all my intake hoses to 3/4" with a 3/4" check valve.. The 1/2" seemed to starve the pump somewhat. The larger hose allows for a nice unrestricted flow. I have 25 year old pumps working great.

Value / Apraisal of a Self Serve Wash

cfcw.... I agree. A great running wash could support debt on 5 x.

Value / Apraisal of a Self Serve Wash

Here is a reality. A wash is only worth what someone is willing and able to pay you on the day you decide to sell.

Value / Apraisal of a Self Serve Wash

From all the appraisals I have had done over the years, it seems that a newer, well run wash will go for 5-6 times annual gross. A lesser quality facility around 3-4 four times annual gross, and poor facility 2-2.5 times. I know that is simplified, but that is always what my wash and the comps...

    Vac pricing

I switched to $1 for 3 minutes , down from 4 minutes, when the electric bill went up 115%. I agree with the previous post that a $2 for 6 minute start would scare a lot of people away. As was indicated, about 85% now double cycle, with probably 20% triple cycling.

    Plastic Vac Domes refreshed

Does the illumination still show through once painted? Or did you just go without having them lit?

    Methanol Foam Brush Soap

I was basing price on the finished product from KR last year at $355 +/-. I do not have a supplier (that I know of) for the Methanol only in my area. I am going to check around at some petro dealers, though as previous posts suggested. If I can get it for about $3 per gallon, that is worth...

    Methanol Foam Brush Soap

What is Metanol going to be this Winter? I think it was $355 per drum from KR last year. Does anyone have an air blow down system? It seems to me you could use the Weepmizer to send air through the lines at 34 F instead of the Methanol purge. Then use another time delay relay to send air...
